Alsagra, lovely restored summer holiday stone farmhouse in the Umbrian hillside, on the Tuscany and Umbrian border 15 mins north of Perugia and 30 mins from Assisi. Nestling in an olive grove, surrounded by Chestnut and Oak woodland overlooking the village of San Giovanni Del Pantano with outstanding views of the countryside. It is and ideal place for your summer holiday and the well equipped apartments make it easy for Self Catering and also to go out to local restaurants. The wonderful holiday apartment has their own independent entrances and private outdoor dining spaces. There are 2 bed rooms, fully fitted kitchen, large bathroom and comfortable lounge areas. There is ample space for dining 'al fresco', the apartment has its own private barbecue and terrace. Further away on a secluded terrace is a child friendly gated, heated swimming pool, sunbathing area, and there is a large patio area with loungers. Children play areas and outdoor ball games provided.

This apartment is beautifully appointed and spacious for 4 guests. There is a master bedroom with double bed and second bedroom with two single beds. Both bedrooms have built-in wardrobes with plenty of hanging and shelf space and storage for suitcases. The large bathroom has original chestnut wooden hand crafted shelving, a fully tiled shower and large washbasin. There is a fully fitted kitchen with microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge freezer, oven and hob. The main entrance opens out onto its own patio with tables and chairs for outside dining. The apartment has its own central heating system and towel rails. Hairdryers, stereo CD and radio are provided. A comfortable living and spacious dining area as well as the outside patios provide lots of space. There is a private outdoor patio with loungers and barbecue area for dining "al fresco". For children there is plenty to do with their own play area, outdoor games and terraces to run about on along with a gated pool.

Alsagra, only 20 minutes drive away from the ancient hillside city of Perugia, Provincial capital of Umbria which hosts a major international Jazz Festival in July. The historical centres of Assisi, Cortona and Gubbio are less than an hour’s drive away and a further hour away are the major attractions of Florence, Pisa and Rome. The coasts are less than 2 hrs drive away and are easily accessed by main roads. Hire car is recommended as Alsagra is accessed by a short (1km) white road. There is an historical Etruscan Tomb only 40 minutes walk away and the surrounding hillside provides an area for wonderful walks and undiscovered hill top towns. Tuscany is only 20 minutes away so if you want to explore the famous vineyards (Chianti, Montepulciano) or see the countryside Alsagra is ideally situated. San Gimignano, Sienna and Arezzo are approx an hours drive away. he lake of Trasimeno which has its own beaches and boat rentals is within easy access so relaxing on the beach is very easy

Weekly Pizza making evening: Once a week (weather permitting) there is a Pizza making evening where guests are invited to join in. You get to make your own Pizza including rolling out the dough, adding toppings and putting it into our outdoor woodburing oven. The evening is great fun and includes drinks and desserts. On site there are two childrens play areas complete with swings, slides, wooden train, climbing frames.

A unique place to stay

We have stayed at Alsagra 3 times in the last 2 years and had a wonderful time. The location of the apartments is great, so close to Asissi, Perugia and of course Sienna. We could go to the Palio in Sienna and still get back away from the busstle of things in a day. To get back to the apartments was great as the beds and sofas were so comfortable after a long day on the feet just what we needed. Steve and Helen did a Pizza making evening with us so we could roll out our dough and put on whatever topping we liked then got to watch it cook in a hot pizza oven over a glass of the local wine. We must say the wine was wonderful and given it was made just over the next hill and not from a huge vineyard was truely amazing. One of the days we played golf at the nearby golf course (Antognolla) which only had 4 people playing, it is set against an old castle that is not restored so we have never played anywhere like it. Whilst we were there we also got to swim in their pool which was heated so even though the nights were cool the pool was warm. With a unique setting in an area that is not full of tourists we felt we could discover the real Italy and had a most amazing holiday.
