La Torretta is a special place for a relaxing tranquil holiday with lazy days spent by the pool with a good book on a comfortable sun lounger. It is also within easy reach of the major places of interest in the area should you feel more adventurous. It was an old tobacco-drying tower and adjoining barn that has now been completely rebuilt using local materials and converted to provide extremely comfortable accommodation for up to 4 people, with furnishings to a high standard. The house has stunning views and is set in 14 acres of grounds, surrounded by olive trees. Although it is in a rural position it is not isolated. The nearest village is 2 km distant. There are 2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, (one en-suite with a walk-in shower). There is a fully fitted kitchen, entrance hall, lounge and dining area. Air-conditioning is installed for the hot summer nights. Under floor heating, together with a wood-burning stove ensures that you will be cosy during the colder parts of the year.

From the cobbled streets of the pretty hill towns of Montone and Anghiari, or the battlefield of Tuoro (where Hannibal defeated the Roman Army in 217), to the tomb of St. Francis of Assisi there is a wealth of history to explore and many beautiful sights to visit or paint. For something different, enjoy the water sports on Lake Trasimeno. Within easy reach by car are the towns of Sansepolcro, Perugia, Assisi, Spello, Spolletto, Todi, the waterfalls at Narni, and the towns of Orvieto, Montepulciano, Siena, or Florence. It is also possible to arrange for wine or olive oil tasting, hire a classic car or have a flight in a hot air balloon and take off from outside your front door!

Arrival at La Torretta is between 1600 and 2000 local times, or at a special time as agreed with us. Please depart by 1000. All linen, including pool towels, is provided. Please advise if you wish us to purchase provisions for your arrival and we will send you a list of choices. The local supermarket closes at 2000 on Saturday evening. All shops in the area are closed on a Sunday. There are local restaurants that are open on Sunday. Most restaurants then close on either Monday or Tuesday.

Many thanks for a very enjoyable break. The ability to fly over Umbria was greatly appreciated.
We came, we saw and Italy conquered us. Hopefully it will not be long before we return.
Please keep us posted on the welfare of the pheasant, boar and porcupine population! Derrick & Sue.

If you want to “chill-out”, this is the place to be. You put a lot of thought and imagination into this project, which makes it so easy to relax and enjoy. Lovely views, spacious green and colourful garden. Lots of nice places to visit in the locality. We really enjoyed ourselves. We wish you all the best for the future. Adrian & Myrtle.

Two weeks in August

We had a couple of wonderful weeks stay. The house is faultless in its facilities and cleanliness and the Bowers are very good owners indeed. From start to finish they were helpful and answered all our queries with plenty of information.

The house is slightly closer to the Bowers' own house than the photos intimate, but when in the house, you don't see anything other than the pool and the wonderful views over the mountains. It has a lovely secluded feel but is close enough to the town to be convenient for supermarkets and gelateria!

Highly recommended - particularly for a family of four.

We've travelled round Italy with our children (now teenagers) for many years and all agree that La Torretta is our No.1 find. It's just lovely in every way - Barry & Beaulah have crafted a truly relaxing holiday environment in the Umbian hills with breathtaking views and every possible requirement provided. No skimping here - the villa is presented as if it were your own home; the 'breakfast' patio a wonderful place to start your day; the pool large and relaxing; and so much more. We'll certainly be going back!
