Bella Due for the 2 1/2 of us
Review Submitted: November 7, 2009
Date of Stay: July 2009
We stayed at the comfortable and incredibly well-located Bella Due for 10 weeks during the summer of 2009. "We" included a 2 1/2 year old. The apartment is easy walking to everything in town (as long as you can walk up and down hills) including sites, parks, markets, and restaurants. Spoleto is a very charming town and despite being there during the busy tourist time, found it to be more relaxed and less crowded than many other places we visited in Italy. Spoleto was the ideal home base for us to launch extended trips by train to the North (Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre, Luca, Siena) and South (Rome, Naples, Amalfi Coast) as well as day-trips to many towns including Perugia, Spello, and Orvieto.
Norma and Laurie, despite being very engaged in a number of activities, were very welcoming, accommodating, and attentive hosts. They consistently went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Our 2-year old quickly became very fond of friendly Laurie and still asks about him by name, having been back from Italy for two months.
We would love the opportunity to return and would be disappointed if we weren't able to stay with Norma and Laurie.
Owner's Response: Bella Due is one of several lovely apartments that we have in central Spoleto, all advertised with Holiday Rentals. It has a balcony off both bedrooms that overlooks the mediaeval, pedestrian streets of Porta Fuga and Corso Garibaldi. And, its huge sitting/dining room, with its large window, opens onto a pretty area, full of flowers, with a patio.
Very convenient for restaurants, bars and shops, Bella Due is just 10 mins stroll to Spoleto station, from where you can get to practically everywhere in Italy. As our reviewer has indicated, Spoleto is a great place to stay if you want a base in the middle of Italy. Then, nowhere is too far to visit eg Perugia, Spello, Orvieto, Assisi, Bevagna, Montefalco, Gubbio, Trevi...... ! All these places, the very best places to visit in Umbria, are close to Spoleto !!! And, Rome is just 1 hr 15 mins by train or car.
