In central Spoleto, in the midst of bars, shops and restaurants, in the pedestrian, main street of Porta Fuga, these 2 fabulous apartments are in the Rocca dei Perugini, one of the most historically important palazzos in Spoleto. Both apartments are comfortable, elegant and spacious with great views. They can be easily 'joined up' to create 1 very large apartment to sleep up to 8 persons, at a discounted rate, of course ! And, 1 of them has a terrace with pretty roof-top + hill views. The other has 2 large windows with great views of mediaeval streets. Each apartment has a flat 27' TV, mounted on the wall, with SKY SAT TV/DVD. For those without a car, the train station is a 10 mins stroll. The nearest pool is very large with picnic areas and a bar; and, there is a bus that takes you directly to this pool, about 10 minutes away. For the more sporty amongst you, there is a smart local tennis club, 10 mins stroll away, and pony-trekking is available in the nearby hills

Vista Rocca is so-called because, while it doesn’t have a terrace or balcony, it has 2 very large windows that look down onto the intersection, where Corso Garibaldi joins Porta Fuga and, across onto Corso Garibaldi as it continues around the corner and, up to the hills and the Rocca perched on top – a very stunning and totally “steeped in history” view. You enter this stunning apartment through a wide corridor that leads into a large open-plan living/dining room with a kitchen, fully fitted along the end of the room and set into an alcove. Off the corridor, is 1 large double bedroom with French windows (no view – it looks to the inner part of the building and a small lobby) and, a shower room. The furniture consists of bleached blond, wooden bedroom furniture, fabulous “Italiana” lighting throughout, one 3-seater striped sofa (a sofa-bed) + a matching chair and, beautiful wooden dining furniture for 4 with padded chairs.

Staying in Spoleto is like staying in a fairy-tale castle, peppered with piazzas, sprinkled with bars, restaurants and shops amidst a maze of tunnelled, cobbled lanes and alley-ways, all leading skywards to the famous Rocca and the aquaduct and, some of the best views in the world. Close to Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto, Trevi, Montefalco and Rome, this whole surreal setting is akin to a stage-set in the making, fringed by mountains, olive groves and vineyards and a mixture of medieval monasteries, towns, cities and tiny hill-top villages - all beckoning a visit ! However, for me, Spoleto is the ultimate temptress. Once under her spell, you are lost forever in her beauty. You must use all your will-power to leave this place, even for a short while. It is, quite simply, the most captivating city in Italy, never mind Umbria, Venice being on a par – the difference being that Venice has the water and Spoleto has the mountains. Nonetheless, like Venice, Spoleto has a history to be reckoned with.

    The rate for Vista Rocca is for 2 persons, can sleep 4 - extra persons are 50 euros/week each.

    The rate for Terrazza Tetto is for 4 persons, can sleep 6 - extra persons are 50 euros/week each.

    The rate for Terrazza Tetto Rocca includes up to 8 persons and there is a 15% discount for a simultaneous booking of both Terrazza Tetto and Vista Rocca.

    A booking during the Christmas period attracts an extra tariff of a minimum of 100 euros/week.

We arrived home late last night, after a wonderful holiday. The apartments are
well equipped and lovely with every attention to detail. The balcony was an
amazing space for all of us to gather from meals etc. We really enjoyed our day
in the mountains the pool and food was fantastic. Felicity wished we went soon
in the holidays so we could have gone a second time.
Thank you so much Laurie for the transfers it was so easy to walk to the station
without the luggage and Felicity enjoyed the ice cream on the way. Marc and
Gemma didn't mind one bit looking after the luggage whilst sitting in the bar!

Owner's Response: The "day in the mountains" enjoyed by our reviewer, was spent at our 16C manor house, Villa Marianna, where there is a very large pool and a "cucina dei contadini" ie a private restaurant with a resident chef, who cooks to order for our guests. He uses only fresh local ingredients....meat, truffles and, fruit and vegetables, picked on the day. The wine is free-flowing and both the lunches and the dinners are very modestly priced.
