In the green heart of Umbria, this immaculately restored Convent with beautiful gardens has been tastefully converted into 2 apartments, each with terraces and discreetly 'hidden' from each other. Unlike nearby 'touristy' places such as Assisi, Todi and Perugia, Bazzano nestles in a totally Italian enclave. The medieval city of Spoleto - a favourite haunt of Prince Charles - remains relatively unknown....and its tiny offshoot, Bazzano, is the area HRH is believed to have bought a holiday home, specifically for its beauty and seclusion. The Convent is of significant historical interest, housing a 16C fresco by Lo Spagna, who also has work in the Duomo and the Vatican. On one side of the Convent is a small farm-yard consisting of ducks, geese and roosters. Up the lane is Bazzano’s main and very beautiful church. On the other side of the Convent live an Italian family. So, at any one time, you may hear roosters crowing, Italians chattering and bells ringing. A truly Italian experience!

La Passionata lives up to its name. Both sensuous and splendid! This spacious apartment, with its beamed and domed ceilings, has 1 dble on the ground floor and 1 twin bdr in a loft space with a sloping ceiling and a sky-light (beds can be joined to make a double on request), a large, fully equipped kitchen built into the rocks, a large L-shaped, open-plan dining/siting room with its own 16C freso as a centre-piece, a double sofa-bed and an impressive 16C stone fire-place. It's 'wow' factor consists of 6 huge, arched windows that frame the dining/sitting room and look to the panoramic countryside towards Assisi, the gardens and the mountains. It also has a private terrace that seats 6. The terrace looks on to gardens, mountains and an ancient ruined castle. Bicycles are included in the rental. An easy 3-4 mile cycle ride through the olive groves takes you to a grocers in the pretty village of Eggi, a supermarket or Spoleto. In La Passionata you will feel at one with nature.

Bazzano-di-Spoleto is 20 minutes from Assisi, Bevagna, Trevi and Montefalco. The Sybilline mountain range is to the back of you. A 2 hour drive across them to the sea-side on the Adiatic coast, or to Norcia and the Gran Piano, is a drive through heaven! Todi, Gubbio, Orvieto and San Gemini - famous for its flower festivals - are a 1 hour drive. Perugia, Bolsena and Trasimeno are 45-90 minutes by car. Naples and the Amalfi coast are 3-4 hours by train. And, Venice is 5 hours by train. However, the mediaeval city of Spoleto is the place to be. It resembles an illustration from one of those classic fairy-tale books. Strolling through its streets is like being caught in a time-warp. Here, you can enjoy the finest wines, the tastiest truffles, the most mouth-watering olive-oils and the best ice-creams in Italy. The spirit of its fascinating past is immersed in every stone and cobble. It is the kind of place where fantasy meets reality and, while you're on your passagiata, maybe it will !

The Christmas period attracts an extra 100 euros/week, pro-rata if less than a week, in addition to the daily tariff for bookings less than a week.
Christmas and New Year bookings must not have as the arrival date Christmas Day/Fly to Rome or Ancona then take the train to Spoleto on the Ancona line. Or, fly to Perugia/Cheap flights with Ryan Air/Car hire available from Avis either from the airport and we will send you directions/ Or, alternatively, if you take the train to Spoleto, then Avis will deliver a car to Spoleto station for you if you book it directly with them, locally. The rate includes up to 4 persons - extra persons are 50 euros/week each.

When booking for less then a week, but not less than 3 days, then the daily rate is 20 euros extra per day pro-rata the weekly rate - less than 3 days, the daily rate is 35 euros more.

The changeover day is negotiable. Please depart by 10.00am to allow for cleaning to take place. Please do not arrive before 2.00pm as cleaning will be taking place. We provide free of charge all heating and all amenities as well as linen, beach towels etc and a Welcome Pack....wine, oil, pasta, salad, tomatoes, bread, coffee, tea, sugar etc. In addition, we will endeavour to provide free of charge whatever else you may require for a comfortable stay.
You can hire a mobile phone from us for a 100 euros refundable deposit - you return the phone, we return the deposit !

| Notes: | A car is essential. You can borrow a mobile phone from us in case of emergency - 100 euros refundable deposit. La Passionata is ideal for 4 adults or 3 adults and 2 young people. Z-beds are available. I'm sorry that I cannot allow pets. Also, there are 65 steps that lead from the street to La Passionata so this apartment is probably not suitable for anyone who has a mobility problem. There is a SKY/Sat TV with all the english speaking doc/film/news channels/DVD/VCR/1 stereo CD/radio and many videos and CDs to choose from. Also, there are many books - enough to satisfy a range of tastes. Each apartment has a hairdryer and ironing facilities but shares the use of the washing machine that is in a separate utility room. There are several beautiful, communal pools in the area, including an Olympic sized pool that is about 15 mins door-to-door by car. All of them have picnic areas, a bar and the usual facilities. |
