The quiet of the countryside in an ancient stone building near Spoleto

Our property is located in 'La Piaggia', a village 1/4 mile from Poreta, near Spoleto. It is a two-floor semi-detached house with stunning views over the valley between Spoleto and Foligno. The house was built of stone in mid 19th century and completely restored in 1993. It is perfectly kept, quiet and cosy and privacy is guaranteed. We have a terrace at the entrance equipped with an outdoor table and a large sunshade. Parking facility by the door. Downstairs are the living room and a modern, well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs are the two bedrooms, one with a large double bed, the other with two single beds and a fully tiled shower room with bidet. The floors are of terracotta tiles and the ceiling of the bedrooms is made of oak wood and ancient terracotta tiles. Behind the house is a second terrace with a pleasant small kitchen garden, olive trees, lavender plants and flowers. A rear gate takes you directly into a wood of chestnut, pine and oak trees where you can go for pleasant walks.

La Piaggia is 8 Km far from Spoleto, beautiful and famous city with pre-Roman origins. Spoleto has many 15th and 16th century buildings and a magnificent 13th century cathedral. It has an important international arts festival (founded by Giancarlo Menotti) in late June – early July. It is well situated for visiting the wonderful hill-towns of Umbria. The surroundings are full of nice towns such as Montefalco, Assisi, Trevi, Bevagna, Foligno and Perugia; you can find everywhere museums, churches, theatres and exhibitions. Rome and Florence are only at two hours drive; it is also possible to drive to Spoleto train station (10 minutes drive) where you will find an Express train that in 1 hour 20 minutes takes you in the very centre of Rome and in approximately 2 hours takes you in Florence. Within walking distance from the house are two excellent restaurants where you can sample good Umbrian food and good Italian wines but good and cheap restaurants are everywhere in Umbria.
