La Roccia: Villa Rental, 3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6 in Spoleto

I've just returned home after my travels & I wanted to let you know how very much we enjoyed Pianciano. It was way beyond expectations. The place to stay & the beautiful surroundings, towns, villages. I didn't want to leave.

We started with getting lost in Rome & having a very exciting drive through the centre of the city! Francesco was very good to meet us & after our harrowing experience he even graciously supplied a second bottle of wine!

The people in the Campello grocery store were delightful. So helpful & even with the language barrier we managed to communicate well. The butcher there was so good to try to point out the local produce, foods, wine etc. One of the cashiers spoke more English than we were able to do Italian & she was very good to us.

The chickens on the other hand weren't so helpful - we fed them well & got a total of 4 eggs all week!

Would love one day to see the Bachetoni farm. It was such a pleasure to sit outside, sip wine & gaze at the beautiful buildings & olive groves across the way. Although the greenfly from the vines were trying to take over our table! We stayed in La Roccia & it was very comfortable for 5 of us including my elderly mother. She was careful on the stairs but did fine.

I really can't say enough about this place. I showed photos to my neighbour & now she's hoping to plan a stay there next year. Oh, dear - I hope Pianciano doesn't get so popular that I can't get booked!

Nine of our family stayed at Pianciano for one week in June. It was wonderful. We were welcomed with a huge dish of vegetable lasagna, a bottle of wine, and Pianiciano's own olive oil. Aziz is a marvelous caretaker, helping us with all manner of things and always with a smile. His pizzas, cooked in our kitchen's brick oven, were delicious. Maria cooked up a feast one night with sausage and cheese-stuffed beef, pasta with black truffle sauce, and a strawberry torte. The location is fifteen minutes or less from Spoleto and within an hour and a half of wineries, Assisi, Spello, Gubbio, Montefalco, Todi, etc.

The house, Casa dell'Arco, was roomy and a washing machine was right next door. The kitchen was well-stoked and it was fun to learn to use the Italian coffee pot. The views from the house and the vine-covered terrace were lovely, with beautiful sunsets over the hills many evenings.

You could not go wrong with Pianciano. It was truly paradise.

just back from lovely-lovely week, with my parents (70++), husband and two -- VERY active -- boys (9 and 11) and it was just wonderful for all of us, each finding the place itself beautiful beyond description -- let alone expectation -- and totally satisfying in terms of activities/relaxation. The hosts, too, were beyond kind and generous, showing us around and making us feel as much at home in their home as could possibly be asked for (well, beyond!)
We were a party of 6 and stayed at the lovely-lovely la Rocca, finding it very comfortable and spacious.
Really, even thinking hard and long, i can't think of any downside worth mentioning... only perhaps (but that's really trivial) that if you come two couples, as we did, you might want to ask for a second bedroom pre-arranged for a couple (i.e., beds pushed together, double sheet, two night-lamps, etc.). Well, i did think long and hard and this is all that came to mind... SOOOO looking forward to making it there again -- indeed, when pool can be used perhaps too.
Bottom line??? GO! GO! GO!

p.s. my father is 80 and seriously disabled. He, too, however, found place easily manageable and very very enjoyable (but one needs to climb some steps!)
