This is a large organic farm (about 50 acres), with olive groves, pastures and woodland. It enjoys panoramic views of the surrounding hills and country side, of the tiny church of Santa Pudenziana (1000 d.c.) and of the Castle of Albornoz. It is near Narni (of Narnia fame), a medieval town overlooking the gorges of the river Nera. Accommodation is in two self-catering apartments (La Casa di Mariu and La Torre). The amenities within the farm include: a swimming pool situated in a scenic location among olive trees; possibility of horse riding lessons (by qualified instructors), walks in the woods and adjoining country side; use of mountain bikes.

ITALIAN OLD HANDS FIND A SPECIAL PLACE

I am the dad of our Anglo/Italian tribe and have been visiting this remarkable country on a regular basis for almost 50 years! I first came to Italy, at the age of three with my southern Italian mother, in the early 1960s and during the intervening years have experienced many wonderful holidays throughout the length and breadth of the country. For those with Italian relatives, you will understand the extent to which you can feel suffocated with love and an abundance of food when you visit them. As a family with three sons between 13 and 20 who cherish their heritage we have sought to maintain our Italian ties as well as some degree of independence from our overwhelming and loving family. We have, therefore, utilised a number of villas / apartments / houses over the years but can sincerely state that Torre Rossa stands out as the ideal location for a traditional Italian family holiday.

The location is superb as is the surrounding countryside. The points of interest are numerous and are within easy reach. However, beyond these major advantages is the friendliness of the host and his genuine concern that you are enjoying your stay. Renato is friendly, informative, attentive and responsive, but in no way intrusive. As indicated in other testimony, you will be surprised by ad hoc offerings of fresh veg', salads or dolce that will appear on your door step from time to time and be offered informed advise as to good local trattoria.

We are a family who are pretty active when pushed but quite happy to allow the day drift by when we chose to be in a chilled frame of mind - either state is easily accommodated at Torre Rossa.

Wearing our UK hat, we can wholly recommend Torre Rossa as a perfect venue for your holiday with a wonderful pool and as an Italian at heart we can vouch for the authentic rustic experience that the farm offers.

One of the lovliest placest we know!

We have just returned from our second visit to Torrerossa. We love the setting of the apartment on a beautiful olive farm with riding stables also on the site. The farm is encircled by amazing views of the surrounding hilly countryside. The scents and colours are wonderful to remember. The apartment is extremely well equipped and in excellent condition.
The owners are very kind and cannot do enough to make you feel welcome - that is definitely one of the very best things about Torrerossa - we delighted in talking about the region and finding out about local food and traditions. Last summer we were invited to lunch with our hosts and other guests. Our hosts arranged for us to meet some of their friends who showed us how to make fresh pasta and gnocchi. We were invited to pick fresh figs, peaches and on this occasion cherries from their trees. A local pastry called 'crostata' was often left on our veranda table for breakfast! Such thoughtfulness! Delicious! I could go on about our hosts' generosity...
Our children are no longer small - they really appreciated the use of the pool, so cooling after the hot sunshine and enjoyed the table tennis and swing ball game. The site is so safe we have no fears about leaving them on their own. Riding lessons are available and my daughter and I really enjoyed sampling these. The owners have four amazingly friendly dogs who, to my family's delight, regularly come to visit!
The apartment is near the picturesque town of Narni. A short drive in the car will take you to Orte to catch the train to Rome - easily done in a day and well worth it! Many pretty hill top towns and villages are within a stone's throw of Torrerossa such as Assisi and Orvieto but to be honest we just prefer to stay and enjoy the tranquility and breathtaking beauty of the farm and its views.
The local shops in Narni Scalo are very good - there are plenty of small shops such a pleasant change after the copious supermarkets in England. On our last day in Torrerossa one of the shop keepers we had visited gave us a present as we left.
We are a family who usually try to do different things each year on holiday. Again this time we decided that in 2009 we shall endeavour to return to Torrerossa - a more delightful place really is hard to imagine.
