The Basilj Farm Estate, just 3 kms from the Magliano Sabina exit on the Rome to Florence highway (A1), spans 200 hectares and includes a huge archaeological site. Three 17th century cottages on the estate have been converted into apartments. They are situated in a fine hilly landscape position and secluded in the greenery. The cottages are completely restored fully respecting the original architecture to accommodate guests in fully furnished comfortably fitted apartments which overlook the dale. Every apartment is independent with its own kitchen, bathroom and heating.Heach cottage has its own pool (open 1st/6-30th9).

The archaeological site is a legacy of the past grandeur of 'Ocriculum' that had its golden age during the Roman Republic in the 2nd Century B.C. as the military stronghold for the conquest of bordering Umbria. The site includes a theatre, amphitheatre and baths, which witnesses its weight as a Roman Municipality. Later, in the Middle Ages, Otricoli maintained, with alternating fortunes, its strategic importance with or against the Pope. A VII Century A.D. Collegiate Church and the medieval town of Otricoli are of interest to tourists.

The Estate provides milk, eggs, poultry and vegetables. Local facilities include a swimming pool and tennis 2 km, riding 8 km, Tiber River 500 metres, Deltaplane 1 km, restaurant and supermarket 400 metres. Local events include several pageantries and celebrations in historical costume in Otricoli and in the neighbourhood. Connections: Highway A1 3 km (Magliano Sabina exit toll), Civita Castellana Railway Station 8km, Orte Railway Station 15 km, buses for Rome and Terni. Well located for excursion to Rome, Spoleto, Orvieto, Todi 50 km - Piedilvco Lake 25 km, Marmore Falls 22km, Assisi 90km and several religious and historical sites.

I do recommend the property for people who want to spend their holiday far from the noise of everyday life, the great advantage was for my family the flexibility of the dates as we the owners usually offer accommodation starting on Saturdays, here we could choose the dates and the length of our stay.The owner is very helpful, speaks foreign languages and provides a lot of useful information concerning travelling tips/excellent train connection to Rome/,
