This ancient farmhouse has been deeply restructured to offer a high standard accommodation. It's located 1.8km far from medieval village of Otricoli, 8km from motorway to Rome(40min), 12km from Railway-Station to Rome, with parking & trains every 30min. The property is fenced & comprises a swimming pool in front of the house & a tennis court. Moreover, 6 bicycles & Tennis table are available (bow & arrows optional). The interior is comfortable & elegant at the same time. All the rooms are large & furnished with antiques. Lovers of cooking will enjoy the expansive kitchen. 6 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms. Entrance from the furnished portico into a large living room with many sofas, SKY TV & fire-place, kitchen/dining room with fire place, fridge freezer, dishwasher, etc. 2 different night-zones with, each one, 1 double, 1 twin bedroom, bathroom/shower. Neighbours: Villa Stornellino is a perfect spot to visit Umbria and Lazio being a few km from the medieval town of Narni, midway between Rome and Perugia, those include supermarkets, grocers, delicatessens, petrol station, bars. Very closed to the villa there are many appreciated restaurants and many typical 'trattorie' reachable by car o bicycles following suggestive country's paths. Villa Stornellino is situated on the side of a hill with a wonderful view. Peaceful position, 10 km from Narni (all kinds of shops) , 40 km from Todi ,Assisi and Spoleto, 70 km from Perugia and Rome. Accessible also by train from the Orte or Civita Castellana stations (10 or 18 km away) directly from Airport Leonardo da Vinci. Approx. 1 hour by car are the Etruscan cities of Viterbo with the famous 'Therme dei Papi' (Health Care swimming-pool centre) , Tuscania and Tarquinia.

Surrounded by 5000 m2 of shaded and fencing garden and equipped lawn area with barbecue and swimming pool, with a beautiful panorama. Moreover, in the property, there is a panoramic and regular tennis court (guests use only). Don't forget tennis rackets if interested. You will find Tennis Table and six mountain bikes. Equipped portico for outdoor dining. The spoils of Ocriculum call attention to themselves through out the town, with as many as a thousand individual stones readily visible, often carved or inscribed, and surely many more inside walls and in basements: Otricoli is thus a sort of open-air museum. For its tiny size Otricoli is an extraordinarily urban sort of place, perched on a hill in the last few southern miles of Umbria, and 9km north of Magliano Sabina across the border in the Lazio.

Great find in unspoilt part of Umbria

Beautiful villa with far reaching views over countryside (surrounded by sunflower fields when we were there!). The pool was great as was the tennis court and there are many lovely restaurants in the surrounding hill towns to eat out at night. We spent two days in Rome (more trains go through Orte so this would definitely be the preferred option if you are wanting a wider choice of trains). All in all a great holiday and we all agreed that one day we would go back.

A Wonderful Property

We spent a month at Villa Stornellino and had an absolutely wonderful time. The property is beautifully situated in the Umbrian countryside with gorgeous views of the rolling patchwork of hills covered with olive groves, vineyards and wheat fields. The pool is beautiful, large enough for a good swim and the tennis court is GREAT – a real plus if you like to play (just be sure to bring tennis balls with you as they're a little difficult to come by in the immediate area). We used just about all of the amenities provided (it was too hot when we were there to use the 3 fireplaces – but we used everything else!) . In spite of the hot weather, we never needed the air conditioning, as the house stays quite cool and comfortable with its thick walls and shaded loggia all around.

The house itself is spacious, with large bathrooms, comfortable beds, and lots of charm. It's great for a large group, with three separate "suites" of two bedrooms/two baths each. The kitchen is adequate, if not fabulous, and we were able to put some wonderful meals on the table, using the barbecue and the nice stove and oven.

Having an Internet connection was vital to us during our stay, so the wifi at the house was another big plus. The only negative in that regard is that our American phones (AT&T) did not have reception at the house. We would recommend bringing a laptop and using Skype if you have an American carrier).

The closest town, Otricoli, is very charming with a wonderful medieval section and almost all the services one needs during a holiday. The local gelateria is one of the best we tried in the four weeks we were there and we tried a lot! There are two good restaurants in town, both with pizza and a full menu as well. The next nearest village, Calvi dell'Umbria is also charming and has a good supermarket just outside and a nice restaurant with a terrace dining area to enjoy the view while you have lunch or dinner.

We didn't take the train to Rome as we imagined we would because there are plenty of things to see and do within an hour's drive, and it was so pleasant to just stay at the house and relax.

The owner, Giulio, was very helpful and had provided ample food, wine, and bottled water in the fridge for our late arrival. We were two couples with various guests coming and going during our stay and there were plenty of linens provided for all.

We would definitely return to Villa Stornellino and recommend it whole-heartedly.

Wonderful location and totally private.
Carefully designed by the owners to give comfort and easy-living. This will be our third time there and we are really looking forward to going again- it is as good as being in our own home!
The owners are generous as well as gracious. We would recommend this house to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy Umbria.
