Orvieto origins go back to the Etruscan civilization: the first Etruscan settlements, going back to the 9th Century BC, in fact, were found inside the Tufaceous caves in the bedrock upon which today rises the city.

Annexed in the 3rd Century BC to the territories of Rome, it remained under the Roman domination until the decline of the Western Roman Empire. Today it remains a fascinating town to visit. And it is the perfect location from which to explore the beautiful countryside and towns and villages of Umbria and neighbouring Tuscany. Less than 90 minutes from either Florence or Rome on the motorway. Orvieto is the 'Perfect Italian Holiday' location.

  • 25% deposit confirms reservation. 300 Euro security deposit required. Bath towels and bed linen included. Rate is for two persons. Extra 125 Euro per week for a second couple or children with use of couch bed. Infants free; cot provided.
  • This apartment is also available for long term rental; price to be negotiated.
  • Umbria is the 'Green Heart' of Italy and Orvieto is the perfect location from which to explore Italy. It is about halfway between Rome and Florence with an excellent train service to both for day trips. And there are numerous medieval villages like Assisi, Perugia, Spello, Arrezzo, Spoleto, Gubbio, Siena, Todi, Terni all within an hours' drive.

Great town, great apartment

I highly recommend it. The roof terrace was great to sun bathe on and relax in the evening watching the birds swirling overhead. The Duomo is a few minutes walk away and is spectacular. Some very good restaurants in the town and good food shops. Easy access by train to Florence, Rome and Lake Trasimeno.

Autumn in Orvieto

I stayed in this cozy apartment for 2 weeks in November 2011 in connection with a course I participated in. 5 out of 12 days I had company of husband and two teenagers at 13 and 17 years.
I can strongly recommend both the apartment and the city. We enjoyed the walks around the city walls, lots of good food and wine, the Orvieto city itself, the many DVD´s in the apartment, the excellent “take away” pizza bar on Piazza Del Popolo and many many other things. We would love to come back some day.

A Wonderful Spot in Beautiful Orvieto

I stayed in this apartment from October 1st to October 19th, 2011. The description of the apartment and the pictures were representative of the apartment itself. It was very neat and tidy and the location is excellent. While it does not provide Wifi access, there are a number of locations within a short walk that do have Wifi. I appreciated the DVDs and the books that were available during my stay. I also appreciated the close proximity to the Anello delle Rupe, the walk around the base of the old city, which I walked each day. The kitchen is well equipped but quite small, definitely only room for one cook. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment and will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Orvieto. It was perfect for me.

We stayed for a week in May and found the town delightful with plenty to see. The apartment was well situated and well appointed - it had the feel of being a home with lots of books and guides, The large roof terrace was a real pleasure. We would certainly recommend this place.

a lovely stay here with the family
