Orvieto origins go back to the Etruscan civilization: the first Etruscan settlements, going back to the 9th Century BC, infact, were found inside the Tufaceous caves in the bedrock upon which today rises the city. Annexed in the 3rd Century BC to the territories of Rome, it remained under the Roman domination until the decline of the Western Roman Empire. Today it remains a fascinating town to visit. And it is the perfect location from which to explore the beautiful countryside and towns and villages of Umbria and neighbouring Tuscany. Less than 90 minutes from either Florence or Rome on the motorway. Orvieto is the 'Perfect Italian Holiday' location.

Christmas In Italy!

My husband and I have just returned from Orvieto where we have spent a wonderful Christmas and New Year attending the Umbria Jazz Winter Festival. The weather was a little colder than expected but it did not matter much as this is a cosy, lovely and warm apartment that had everything and was only one minutes' walk from all the concert venues. I would highly recommend this apartment. It was spotless and spacious. The owners have a great collection of books to read and you can see from their collection of artwork and CDs that they too are jazz lovers. We are strongly considering returning soon!

delightful apartment. clean, quiet, only a few minutes walk from the most important sights and resources in orvieto.
The local city bus stops very near the front door. I did not have a car; orvieto is accessible by train, and the bus to surrounding areas stops a few minutes walk from the apartment.
A park is about 100 meters away, with panoramic views of the countryside.
very nice large terrace, overlooking countryside and local city bus stop.
kitchen is very convenient and well equipped, bathroom very modern and functional. beds are comfortable.
three floors up, no lift.
I have rented three apartments in italy in this price range; this was the best.
highly recommended.
