Fattoria di Rentica is an extremely spacious hunting lodge set in a large agricultural estate in olive groves, orchards and vineyards, with a lovely swimming pool (20x10mt) offering magnificent views over Bolsena Lake and its lush green hills. Recently renovated to the highest standards using original local materials and craftsmen, this historic property has all the charm of terracotta floors, high vaulted oak beam ceilings, a huge stone fireplace and thick stone walls. Elegantly furnished with period pieces, the house is also well-equipped with modern appliances and comforts. Surrounded by the peace and quiet of the countryside, Fattoria di Rentica is an ideal spot for a truly relaxing holiday, but conveniently located for touring Tuscany and Umbria and within easy reach of Rome. The medieval village of Bolsena with its castle, lakeside walks, bustling markets and restaurants is a five minute drive.

Strategically located on the borders of Umbria, Tuscany and Lazio, Fattoria di Rentica is a twenty minute drive from Orvieto with its stunning cathedral, medieval architecture and delicious wine, half an hour from the papal residence in the town of Viterbo with its health spas and only forty minutes to the Mediterranean coast. Discover the archaeological treasures of the Etruscans; there are many heritage sites within less than an hour's drive from the house. Assisi, Todi, Spoleto, Perugia and Florence are all within easy reach and Rome is a convenient hour's train journey from Orvieto (car park). This area is also renowned for its gastronomic excellence: vegetables fresh from the garden, roast wild boar and hare sauce on homemade 'pappardelle', fish fresh from the lake. Taste famous wines produced locally including Orvieto and Est! Est!! Est!!! The fattoria di Rentica organic estate produces its own wine and olive oil which the owners will be delighted to share with you.

Notes: Fattoria di Rentica is an extremely spacious country house. On the ground floor there is a hall, a large attractively furnished living/dining room with a stone fireplace that can seat 20 people and a professionally fully equipped kitchen. There are also two double/twin bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. A stone staircase from the hall leads up to the first floor where there is a cosy reading room and a large loggia with superb views over Bolsena Lake. The loggia is elegantly furnished with garden furniture and makes an ideal spot for al fresco dining and drinks. Four further double/twin bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms, are on this floor. Opposite the main house is a lovely converted barn with four more double/twin bedrooms and en suite bathrooms. These bedrooms all have private verandas opening onto well-kept lawns and stunning views over the lake and the countryside. A short stroll through an olive grove brings you out onto our beautiful pool area with sun beds and bar service.

A holiday to remember

This property has to be experienced to be believed. It was everything and more than we had had hoped for. The house is stunning - very spacious and beautifully decorated. The bedrooms are large and the en-suite bathrooms roomy and very attractively decorated. The location is outstanding - views from the house over Bolsena lake are breathtaking, particularly at sunset. The local town, Bolsena, is very pretty, pleasant to roam around and only a 5 minute drive away. We ate in a couple of very nice restaurants locally, but most evenings cooked en masse at the house and ate in style in the lovely dining room. This is a perfect place for children - plenty of outdoor space in which to run around and the pool is lovely. Access to Orvieto (not to be missed) and Rome is easy, and there are lots of pretty towns around the lake. Plenty of sailing and windsurfing available.

This really was a holiday to remember for me and my family and I couldn't recommend Fattoria di Rentica more highly. The owners are very pleasant and welcoming and were at pains to ensure that we had everything we needed. They were available by telephone throughout the holiday in the event that we needed anything.

If planning another holiday in the future for a large party I wouldn't even think about looking elsewhere. Fattoria di Rentica has absolutely everything to offer, and I would recommend it very highly to anybody.
