A week's skiing in Cortina

The apartment was clean, well appointed, cosy and warm.
The details given in the website are correct, but we had, on the basis of previous experience in typical French ski apartments, taken the "1 bedroom, sleeps 4" phrase to indicate that, if 4 people were present conditions would be very cramped. In fact this is not the case, because both the bedroom and the living area are sufficiently spacious. Consequently, if the additional (easily stowed) beds in the living area were in use, they would not cover the entire floor of the room as is sometimes the case. Furthermore, the internal layout of the property allows access to the kitchen and to the bathroom without going through either the bedroom or the living area, an important point which would make occupation by 4 people quite acceptable.
Cortina's ski areas are inconveniently split up. Including the more distant Cinque Torri/Lagazuoi area, there are four separate sections each with separate points of access to the mountain. However, the apartment is excellently located with (almost) ski-in/ski out capabilities to and from the largest (Tofana) area. What's more, it is on the right side of town to access the stunning Lagazuoi area (and the Sella Ronda beyond it) either by bus or by car.
I would not actually describe the property as "city centre", but it is within easy walking distance of the town centre (about three quarters of a mile) across a sloping grassy field and then down some pleasant minor lanes. A stroll into town for supper is easily done, and there are also some restaurants within walking distance of the apartment. Warning: in Cortina, making a table reservation in advance is usually necessary!
As a well located and comfortable base in the most beautiful skiing area in the world, the apartment has much to recommend it.
