Tastefully furnished 1st floor apartment in a 15th Century former Catalan palace 'Palazzo D'Albis', superbly located right in the centre of the historical old town of Alghero in the Piazza Civica. It was in this building in 1541 that Charles V the King of Spain lent out of one of the windows defining the Alghero people as “Todos Caballeros” his Knights. This apartment has everything on its doorstep, restaurants, pizzerias, cafes and boutiques as well as historic buildings and Catalan towers. No need for a car as the apartment is only 1 minute walk to the harbour and 15 minutes to the beach. The apartment sleeps two people very comfortably and consists of a four poster bed in the main bedroom and a spacious living room. It also has a modern bathroom and a seperate fully fitted kitchen with all modern appliances.

Super location but the shower...

The location was superb for the old town, restaurants and shops. parking was also close. The start of the long beach was only 15 mins. The view from both windows was into the side street, not into the square, as the photo would suggest. The flat was traditionally furnished and tiled, with modern kitchen and bathroom. However, the old shower, hose and curtain leave a lot to be desired – more Heath Robinson than Philippe Starcke! It is dangerous and needs replaced immediately. We had initial problem with the keys and lock to the exterior door, but rep got new keys cut immediately.
We can recommend Bella Napoli, next door, for pizzas and the local shops for food. Eating in Sardinia is more expensive than mainland Italy, with most restaurants requiring a 2-3 Euro cover charge per person and a 10% service charge! Restaurant on the wall - Angedras, was excellent but expect to pay at least £100 for 3 courses, coffee, wine and water.

Great apartment in the centre of town

Lovely apartment. Exactly as the description and more. Can highly recommend it.

Location is fantastic, lovely ice cream next door, hints of wood oven-cooked pizza wafting up from the restaurant below..mmmm.

Snorkeling centre with exhilarating speedboat ride 20mins walk away.

Great restaurants. Al Tuguri is a real treat - try the 4 course set menu and you won't be disappointed.
There is also a lovely fruit and veg market 5 mins from the apartment we found the prices were ridiculously low (compared to UK at least).

It can get a little noisy during the night- it helps if to adjust your sleep patterns to that of the locals!
We had a car but found no problems parking for free, as long as you are prepared to park a little outside of the town centre.

Flew back into rainy UK today and missing Alghero already!

Visited Alghero in May 2009. I have used these websites for several years - often the property is way oversold, or a key piece of (negative) information is omitted.

I can say that the description on this website is 100% accurate and if anything undersells the apartment.

We had a fantastic time - the apt. has the perfect location in the old town for exploring Alghero, walking to the beach, walking the bastioni, checking all the restaurants out. We hired a moped at the airport, but didn;t really need it.

Perfect base to have a great holiday in Alghero without having to worry about getting about.

Genuine Sardinian Old Town Apartment

Myself, my partner and our 1 year old son stayed in this appt for a week in May 2009 and we had a really fantastic time. The location is in the Old Town's main square and just beside the marina.

The apartment itself is genuinely Sardinian with high ceilings and windows out onto an old cobbled street. It is really the best part of Alghero and close to all amenities. This apartment would appeal to anybody who wants a taste of the real Sardinia.

We rented a car nearby and made several day trips as well as spending days on the long sandy beaches nearby. Of course the restaurants in the area are amazing too.

We highly recommend the apartment.

We rented the apartment last summer (end June/beginning July) and had a very pleasant and comfortable stay.
We paid the amount 2 months in advance and had no problem getting our deposit back.
The apartment is clean and very spacious. It is in an ideal position just on the edge of the old town, a stones throw from the harbour and ten minutes walk to the beach. The apartment was in such an ideal location for us and we loved the deli just across the square.
