This is a spacious, refurbished first floor apartment with an air conditioning/heating unit on one of the oldest streets of this fascinating walled seaside town. There are two large bedrooms; one with an enormous emperor size four poster bed and large antique wardrobes and the other with two single beds and antique wardrobe. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a full size oven and hob. There is a dining area attached to the kitchen with seating for 6. There is a large lounge with two sofas, one of which is a sofa bed which sleeps two. There is a TV, DVD player and playstation1 with a few games and DVD’s. There is a tasteful new shower room fully tiled in marble. There is a utility room with a washing machine and iron and board. This apartment is frequently used by the owners and is therefore furnished to a higher standard than is normal for holiday accommodation. Each of the rooms have fans and there are electric radiators in case of chilly days in Winter.

Alghero has so much to offer the visitor! It has unspoilt stretches of white sandy beaches and clear waters which at present remain relatively uncrowded apart from in the peak season. There are opportunities to try your hand at several water sports. Alghero is still a flourishing fishing port hence the abundance of fresh fish on the menus. Lobster is a local speciality! Sardinian cuisine is about fresh ingredients, simply prepared and complimented by the highly rated local wine. There are lots of good restaurants and bars in the area. One can get lost meandering through the narrow cobbled streets. Two hundred kilometres from the Italian mainland and about the same from North Africa, Sardinia sits in the middle of the Mediterranean, which has meant that throughout its history it has been invaded by various civilisations; Romans, Genoans, Carthiginians and most recently the Catalonians. The people in Alghero speak an ancient form of Catalan and the town is known as 'Barcellonetta'.

    20% of the rental price (or £100 if 20% is less than £100) is required to secure the booking. This is a non-refundable deposit.
    The remaining balance will be due 6 weeks before the rental start date, any cancellations after this date will not be refunded. Methods of payment include paypal, cheque or bank transfer.

Notes: As everything is to hand it is not necessary to have a car but if you want a car to explore some of the wonderful beaches and scenery further afield, please note it is only possible to park in designated areas outside the old town as the old town is traffic free. There is a very free large car park at the port. Alghero can be quite busy during the months of July and August as these are the months Italians tend to holiday in.

Travel information: Ryanair operate flights to Alghero from Stansted, Liverpool, Dublin, East Midlands, Girona, Stockholm, Bremen, Frankfurt (Hahn), Dusseldorf, Madrid, Pisa, Rome and Milan. Ryanair also fly to Olbia from Birmingham. Easyjet also fly to Olbia from Luton. Olbia is about a 11/2hour drive. Buses meet flights at Alghero airport to take you to Alghero Centre. You need to buy the ticket from inside the terminal building before getting on the bus. Taxis cost about 25euros. There are lots of car hire companies at the airport (Hertz, auto europe, avis, europcar, Easycar,Sardinya to name a few) The buses are cheap and frequent and go to various beaches in the area.Orange buses go locally and blue buses further afield. The tourist information office is extremely helpful and have bus timetables.

Golf: There are golf facilities in Stintino which is a beautiful 9 hole course.To the south there is a beautiful 18 hole course on the coast near Oristano.

We really enjoyed our holiday in Alghero. The apartment is one of the best we have stayed in. It is in a great location, very clean, spacious, well laid out, and had everything we needed - a home from home. There is a bakery just around the corner, supermarket about 5 mins away. We were amazed by the amount of restaurants but we ate in mostly in the great kitchen in the apartment. The fish and veg markets (everyday) are only a few minutes from the apartment. We couldn't resist the lovely fresh food. We got wine in the Sella & Mosca winery. There is a tour of the winery at 17.30 everyday.
A weekly market on Wednesday am, Maria Pia beach can be reached by the local AO bus. We went to Bosa and out to the caves by local bus.
Most of all, we were charmed by Alghero, loved the sights and sounds of the narrow streets.
Antonia provided all the information before we went and thanks for all the extras in the apartment.
We will definitely be back!

We had a super week in the old town apartment. It is on the first floor of an old town house. The apartment was clean and well furnished. Nice big bathroom with a large shower cubicle. It comfortably slept 6 (4 adults and 2 children). Everything is within walking distance as you are right in the centre. The beach is 20 minutes walk. The bus stop (no need for a taxi from the airport!) is about 10 minutes walk. Pub and restaurant 50 yards away.Would go again!

last year my family stayed in the apartment in Alghero old town. We had a great time, all the amenities were within a walking distance. Bakery just round the corner, plenty of restaurants and bars to visit in the evening, also the shops and markets. The beach is quite a walk but its possible and there are plenty of local buses to take you to other places. We went on a boat trip one day which was great fun. Looking back it was quite an adventure, sorting things out for ourselves, like ordering the calor gas to be delivered in italian from the phone box , and it arrived later that evening. The facilities were good and clean, I would recommend this property to anyone.

Being fellow holiday rentals advertisers we did a swap with the owners of this apartment for our house in Carcassonne (property 94174). We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment- it was clean, well equipped & perfect position to explore the old town of Alghero. We particularly liked the special touches such as the four poster bed & the bathroom sink.
There are loads of restaurants within a few minutes walk & we parked the hire car for free by the harbour. We also enjoyed exploring Sardinia- there is plenty of historical interest & the beaches are lovely.
We've since met Roy & Antonia (the owners) & they are very friendly, straightforward people.
