The apartment is located in a typical Venetian building in the Rialto area, with a small courtyard and an exterior staircase that leads to the upper floors. The apartment is located on the second floor. The apartment is approximately 60 square meters and has an entryway, a living room with a comfortable couch-bed for two people, a bedroom with a double bed, a smaller bedroom with a single bed, bathroom and kitchen. It is a comfortable and warm home, recently remodeled, with lots of light and parquet floors. It has autonomous heating, fan ceiling, washing machine, refrigerator, gas stove and oven, television with video recorder, hair dryer, steam iron. You will find everything you’ll need for an easy morning following your arrival, with the minimum necessary for a Continental breakfast in the kitchen and sheets and towels provided for your convenience. The eat in kitchen is complete with pots, pans, silverware, plates, cups and glasses and everything necessary to cook and eat with ease.

Casa Veronica is in the heart of the Rialto section of Venice, one of the most ancient and characteristic areas of the city, with its world famous Rialto Bridge. You will be enchanted by the Rialto outdoor market, which takes place every morning on the banks of the Grand Canal (3 minutes walk). The area is a coloured mix of street stalls with tourist wares, fish, flowers, fruit and vegetables, and shops selling bread and pastries, meats, fresh pasta, cheese and Italy’s renowned prosciutto. Small “bacari”, typical Venetian taverns selling wine and snacks, and homey restaurants (trattorie) line the streets. Our apartment provides a true Venetian experience. Major tourist attractions are easily reached by foot (Piazza San Marco, 15 minutes; Campo San Polo, 5 minutes; Basilica and Campo dei Frari, 8 minutes; the less noted but beautiful Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio with its ancient church, 5 minutes). The closest vaporetto (ferry) stop on the Canal Grande is four minutes by foot.

The owners.: Our names are Veronica and Gilberto. We live in Venice, just around the corner from Casa Veronica. Gilberto is an architect and teaches art history. Veronica works at the Ca' Foscari University in Venice. We have 3 daughters Gaia, Matilde and Isotta (born in September 2007). The owner of the house was the husband of Veronica’s mother, Daniela. Daniela lives on the Lido, a narrow, green island lined with beaches across the Venice lagoon, separating it from the Adriatic sea. The apartment was rented for several years by a friend, but we have now decided to rent it for short periods. As such, we also have the opportunity to participate in home exchanges. We love travelling and meeting people from different countries. If you are interested, please e-mail us for information.

Our family of 3 adults stayed in Casa Veronica Sept. 2009. It was a delightful experience. We had been to Venice before as wide-eyed tourists and were ready for a more homey and intimate experience. Casa Veronica filled the bill.
Very comfortable/clean apartment with attention to details that made a nice home-away-from home. Once we got our bearings-easy to get a bit lost-but fun as not a serious lost-we LOVED this area of Venice. (Suggestion: larger font maps! :) Loved all the books and the art in the apt. Took home the local nougat/glass as gifts.
Easy to navigate on foot and vaporatto. The Restaurant on the street to the nearest vaporatto stop is a local gem. We appreciated the personal communications and attention to detail Veronica provides. We will return again! Venice is unique and utterly charming.

Casa Veronica - a comfortable home away from home

A friend and I chose to rent Casa Veronica for a week while in Venice for a research trip. Already familiar with the city, we knew that this location was close to popular sights, but not in the center of the tourist triangle of Rialto-Accademia-S. Marco. This meant that we could get to places we needed to go easily, either by foot, vaporetto or traghetto, and that we were not overwhelmed with noise and crowds. It is close to the Rialto market, but also to grocery stores and salumerie, as well as authentic Venetian restaurants. The apt. is clean and well equipped with modern and well designed furniture, incl. comfortable beds. I would certainly rent this 2 BR apt. again, either to share with a friend or if I came back with my family. The proprietor is warm and helpful. I cannot think of a single negative. I highly recommend this property!

Wonderful visit to Venice

Casa Veronica was a well equipped home in a wonderful location. This was the nicest place we stayed at during our trip to Italy. We were met by a sweet young girl that helped us find it from the vaperetto stop. The steps up would be difficult for someone with mobility issues and was tough with all our luggage. We had a neighbor yell at us for some reason and others were very noisy until after 2 am.
Otherwise, the area was very nice with small stores right outside the door and a delicious restaurant across from the internet cafe. It was very warm during our visit and we would have enjoyed some air conditioning but we made do with the ceiling fans. Be sure to get the vaparetto pass, it is wonderful to hop on and off to visit the area. We even went out to Burano, which we loved. There was a nice bowl of fruit with cookies and milk when we arrived, what a nice touch and it was so nice to have things like hair dryers, iron, washing machine, etc. I would recommend this property to families.

Really nice apartment, well located within 10 mins walk of the Rialto Bridge and just three stops on the main waterbus route from the railway station.

Very good size for two people, although could fit more, plenty of space, well equipped, helpful owners who communicate well, provide a good introduction, a well-stocked library (with guide books on Venice) and thoughtful touches like fresh fruit on arrival.

Great place to stay and a good base for exploring Venice.

A brilliant gift

Casa Veronica offered us all that we needed to feel at home and at ease in Venice.
The location is both central and far from the crowds. The apartment is well-equipped with appliances, linens & towels and all is clean and in good condition.
There is clearly enough space for two couples to stay and live comfortably. The enclosed courtyard that the living room looks out upon gives the impression of being in a garden when sat inside. The passing neighbors are friendly and discreet.
We had a brilliant stay, with many thanks going to Casa Veronica.
