Residence Palazzo Odoni - perfect place to stay.

Firstly, to clear up any confusion, the Palazzo Odoni is split into two different businesses - a B&B/hotel and the Residence which is apartments. I am reviewing the Residence Palazzo Odoni.
The description was very accurate and in fact the apartment was better than I expected. It was perfectly clean and well looked after.
The owner, Michele, was the perfect host. He was very kind, helpful (carrying heavy suitcases up the many stairs!) and a real Italian gentleman. He obviously works very hard to make his guests feel at home to ensure their stay in Venice is memorable for all the right reasons! He succeeded.
I have only been back a few days from Venice and I have already passed on contact details to friends so yes I would 100% recommend this as a great place to stay for a visit to Venice. In fact, I hope to return myself!
The location of the property is excellent. It was very simple to catch the number 5 bus from the airport (once we had found where to get the tickets - the tourist office to the right as you come through arrivals) and the Palazzo Odoni is only a few minutes from the bus station, situated in a very pretty location. This is a real plus in Venice as we saw many tourists touring the streets with suitcases looking in vain for their hotels hidden in the maze of streets.
I'd been slightly wary of Venice before my visit, having been told how touristy and expensive it is. I am very glad to say that I didn't find this to be the case. Yes there are lots of tourists and shops and restaurants catering to them. However, these are pretty much around St Mark's and the Rialto Bridge area. We spent 9 days exploring the other areas of Venice - all easy walking from the Palazzo Odoni. The Campo Santa Margherita has a good 'Pizza al Volo' place - great pizza slices for 2 euros. Campo S. Barnaba has the best icecream place - GROM. It's the place to go if you like creamy icecream. Try the 'Ae Oche' pizzerias (San Giacomo, Santa Croce) or the excellent 'Taverna San Trovaso' (near the Galleria dall Accademia). If you want a thoroughly crazy and entertaining evening, try 'Al Nono Risorto' (on the way back to the Palazzo Odoni from Rialto Bridge area). There's a nice garden and great food/value.
I hope you enjoy your stay in Venice as much as we did and Residence Palazzo Odoni is available!
