VERONA:
The love town of Romeo and Juliet with a labyrinth of narrow and romantic streets which will lead you in wandering walks to the Archaeological Museum, near the Roman Theatre, or to the Natural History Museum, to the Art Gallery in CastelVecchio (which hosts Italian painting from 12-19th century) to the medieval market square, Piazza delle Erbe, or to the most celebrated Roman Amphitheatre, the 'Arena', in which you'll be able to listen to many of the most important operas (29 June - 1st September).
Near the Villa you will be able to try out many different restaurants or trattorie and taste the excellent local wines (Recioto, Amarone, Bardolino, Soave, Valpolicella, Custoza). If you prefer to cook at home, there are shops and a supermarket in Via IV Novembre, five minutes from the house.
Next to Verona:
The refreshing waters of Lago di Garda are just 30 km / 20 miles away, and well-known wine centres like Valpolicella are only 15 minutes by car, on the way to the lake you can also visit many famous wineries.
From Verona you can easily go to other unique towns for the day : Padova, Mantova or Vicenza in half an hour by train or car, Venice in one hour and a half.
