The 6 apartments are built into the south facing wing of a 17th century Italian Villa and 400 acre working arable farm called Palazzo Rosso (the Red Palace). The 400 year old building has just been completely and lovingly restored, retaining all original features, beams, solid stone walls, fireplaces etc. There is a 300 square metre 10 metre high beamed barn for guest use, paved with local stone. A 13.5x6 metre pool was installed in the spring 2008. There are extensive gardens for guests on both sides of the building, as well as an orchard and courtyard animals (horse, ponies, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits and dogs). The building faces south and has views out over our farmland, with a river and the Colli Berici hills to the west side, the Villa courtyard garden to the north side and our 15 acres of Vineyards to the east.

The apartment is very well furnished with locally made solid wood furniture and kitchen. The kitchen has a solid granite work surface. Classic larch wood floor. 400 year old exposed solid stone walls. original beamed ceilings. The north facing bedroom has a view of the 5000 square metre Villa Palazzo Rosso courtyard garden. The south facing bedroom has a view over the 350 square metre, 10 metre high beamed 'Portico' barn which is for guest use. The apartment is both heated and air conditioned

The Villa Palazzo Rosso is located near the village of Longare, in the hamlet of 'Ponte di Lumignano' at the foot of the Colli Berici Hills (400 meters high). The local area is perfect for hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing. There are many local restaurants and wine producers where guests can enjoy the fantastic local dishes & taste the local wine. There is a cycle track which starts in Longare and goes all the way to the centre of Vicenza.

Places to visit: The historic town Vicenza is only 17km from the farm & there is a cycle track to the centre for approximately 9km. The Berici hills are only 2km from the farm, where there are many hiking & biking tracks as well as an area famous for climbing called lumignano. The spa towns of Abano & Montegrotto Terme are only 25km away.

Further afield: Venice is 65km which is a one hour drive away, or a one hour train ride from Vicenza. Verona is 65km which is a one hour drive away, Padova 30km which is a half an hour drive away. Lake Garda is 100km way & easily accessible by motorway. The Altopiano of Asiago & skiing at 2000m are only 70km away. Florence is a two & a half hour drive away

More Information about the property: The apartments can all be rented separately or together for larger groups. Upon request it is possible to rent out a 110 square metre communal room with kitchen and bathroom situated next to the apartments. The apartments have access to a first floor 140 square metre 6 metre high open plan communal room. The apartments have use of a communal laundry room with a washing machine, two washing sinks, clothes drying facilities, ironing board and iron.

Other Activities: Rock climbing, mountain biking and hiking in the 400 metre high Colli Berici hills

My family spent a week at the farm this past June and had a wonderful time. Although the apartment was delightful - clean and exactly how it looked in the pictures - the most surprising thing was just how delightful the owners, Phil and Silvia, were. Phil and Silvia went out of their way to make sure we have everything we needed - including arranging for a local tour guide (who was excellent), lending us a number of books on the area from their personal library and recommending all the best local restaurants. Silvia even took my children on a tour of the farm so that they could feed all the animals - probably the highlight of the week if you ask my children. Palazzo Rosso is a working farm - they were harvesting wheat the week we were there - but no matter how busy they were Phil and Silvia always took the time to make sure our holiday was everything we hoped it would be. I highly recommend Palazzo Rosso!

Great place to be

The palazzo is situated in a very pleasent surrounding with wine yards and close to the beautiful mountains. The rooms are very nice and well equipped. Best over all is how carefully this historical building is renovated. It still has its original charm and the works are done with great respect for the house.
The pool is a great place to relax beside in the afternoon. I like the Palazzo rosso very much and I hope to come back again. The owners are very nice people who makes sure you enjoy the stay. Best regards Jacob

Excellent surprise

Great experience of a first trip in Italy with three young children.
We stayed two weeks in August and visited Verona, Vicenza, Venezia, Padova, Bassano del Grappa and some Palladian villas and every day, the great swimming pool brought us back home with enthusiasm.
We also had the good surprise to make great shopping (clothes) taking advantage of the last days of summer sale.
Within five minutes driving distance, you can find at least 5 different "gelateria" which is very important with children and we spent our two weeks trying all different types of ice cream and trying to find our favourite one... Mine was "melone" and our children will remember "Nutella" and all the other chocolate variations.
Great pool, not too deep and with a fence and a hot shower outside, lovely and very very clean big apartment, very well equipped, very comfortable beds, lots of space to put our things in the different closets and lots of space to put things to dry (towels and bathing suits), very convenient washing machine, great air conditioning, very big garden with games for children, lots of outdoor space but maybe the most important and the best "souvenir" for the entire family: a very nice, clever and helpful family to welcome us and take care of all our needs...
We will all remember for a long time of the very good fresh eggs picked up and eaten still warm.
Thank you again to Phil and Sylvia and we already gave your address to some friends, hoping they will come to Palazzo Rosso and appreciate the place as mush as we did...

Wonderful and relaxing

We (family with two girls - 8 and 9 years old) enjoyed our stay at Palazzo Rosso very much.
Sylvie and Phil are extremly friendly and helpful, the appartements are very clean, furnished tastefully with an Italian style (including aircondition) and the pool is fantastic. It´s a great spot to relax and to visit the interesting surroundings like Vicenza, Verona or Venice.

In summary: we had a perfect holiday.
Owner's Response: We must be very lucky but we have lots of great people stay with us here on the farm.
