The 6 apartments are built into the south facing wing of a 17th century Italian Villa and 400 acre working arable farm called Palazzo Rosso (the Red Palace). The 400 year old building has just been completely and lovingly restored, retaining all original features, beams, solid stone walls, fireplaces etc. There is a 300 square metre 10 metre high beamed barn for guest use, paved with local stone. A 13.5x6 metre pool was installed in the spring 2008. There are extensive gardens for guests on both sides of the building, as well as an orchard and courtyard animals (horse, ponies, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits and dogs). The building faces south and has views out over our farmland, with a river and the Colli Berici hills to the west side, the Villa courtyard garden to the north side and our 15 acres of Vineyards to the east.

The apartment is very well furnished with locally made solid wood furniture and kitchen. The kitchen has a solid granite work surface. Classic larch wood floor. 400 year old exposed solid stone walls. original beamed ceilings. The north facing bedroom has a view of the 5000 square metre Villa Palazzo Rosso courtyard garden. The apartment is both heated and air conditioned.

The Villa Palazzo Rosso is located near the village of Longare, in the hamlet of 'Ponte di Lumignano' at the foot of the Colli Berici Hills (400 meters high). The local area is perfect for hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing. There are many local restaurants and wine producers where guests can enjoy the fantastic local dishes & taste the local wine. There is a cycle track which starts in Longare and goes all the way to the centre of Vicenza.

Places to visit: The historic town Vicenza is only 17km from the farm & there is a cycle track to the centre for approximately 9km. The Berici hills are only 2km from the farm, where there are many hiking & biking tracks as well as an area famous for climbing called lumignano. The spa towns of Abano & Montegrotto Terme are only 25km away.

Further afield: Venice is 65km which is a one hour drive away, or a one hour train ride from Vicenza. Verona is 65km which is a one hour drive away, Padova 30km which is a half an hour drive away. Lake Garda is 100km way & easily accessible by motorway. The Altopiano of Asiago & skiing at 2000m are only 70km away. Florence is a two & a half hour drive away

More Information about the property: The apartments can all be rented separately or together for larger groups. Upon request it is possible to rent out a 110 square metre communal room with kitchen and bathroom situated next to the apartments. The apartments have access to a first floor 140 square metre 6 metre high open plan communal room. The apartments have use of a communal laundry room with a washing machine, two washing sinks, clothes drying facilities, ironing board and iron.

Other Activities: Rock climbing, mountain biking and hiking in the 400 metre high Colli Berici hills

The apartment was very comfortable, perfect for a family with small children. The satellite TV, DVD player & stereo made life easier when it rained. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were lots of great places to go out for dinner, the Italians all take their children out with them which was a nice change and made our evenings much more enjoyable.
There were lots of places to go and visit close by, we stayed for nearly two weeks and still didn't get to see everything.
We had a great time staying over new year, we even joined in a local new years party which was great fun.
looking forward to coming back soon.

Wonderful Holiday in Italy

We have just returned from our first holiday to Italy, of which 5 days were spent at Palazzo Rosso. We had such a fantastic time and loved the apartments and beautiful surrounding area. We had everything we could have needed in the apartment, which was clean and modern, but really we only slept there as we spent the rest of the time out exploring, at the pool, or sitting on the terrace for our meals or with a glass of wine in the evenings. We made good use of the barbeque and bikes, cycling around the local area was wonderful, beautiful vineyards and lots of lovely sights like the other historic villas and churches. We enjoyed the fresh eggs and fruit provided and there are lots of lovely restaurants and good supermarkets within cycling or driving distance. By car we visited Lake Garda, Verona and Venice is also nearby (we spent our last 2 nights there). Phil & Sylvie are fantastic hosts and full of great advice when needed. I can't recommend Palazzo Rosso enough and would love to go back!

We had an excellent stay at the Palazzo Rosso which was comfortable, clean and well equipped. It was very well placed for visiting Venice (preferably by train), Lake Garda (beautiful), Verona and Vicenza. We would happily recommend the Palazzo, and Sylvie and Phil were terrific hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We would certainly consider a return visit.

Great startingpoint in north Italy

Where to start?
A great place next to the road to vicenza ( 8 km), from there Venize and Verona in a 45 minute drive, Padova in 30 minutes, so a great startingpoint! ( also if you want to visit lake Garda).

The appartment itself looks great, for 2 persons it was 40 square meters, not much, but enough. It has all the needs you can wish; good kitchen with mircrowave, a flatscreen tv, the bedroom/bed is good and so is the bathroom.

Outside you have a great view, 2 swimmingpools and a big veranda! with BBQ! It is great!

But the best; is the excellent service from the owners Phil and Sylvi. Besides the fresh eggs and fruit, there is unlimited information about the area!

If you can not find it in all the books and folders that they have, than Phil and Sylvi will tell you all their best experiences. They will share with you where the markets are, where you can find some winehouses or best restaurants or "must see"' views.

We gladly recommened these appartements in Italy!
We will come back to join Phil and Sylvi for some more beautifull spots in north Italy in 2009.

Eine Woche im Palazzo Rosso

Das Palazzo Rosso sah genauso aus, wie die Fotos im Internet es beschrieben und gezeigt haben. Ein liebevoll restaurierter Bauernhof mit Charme. Das Appartment war sauber, allerdings hatten wir es uns ein wenig groesser vorgestellt. Die Ausstattung war gut, besonders komfortabel war der Hauswirtschaftsraum mit Waschmaschine fuer die Gaeste. Leider ist die Decke ueber dem Schlafraum sehr hellhoerig. Besonders schoen sind die grosszügigen Aussenanlagen mit Pool. Unsere Gastgeber waren ausgesprochen freundlich u. jederzeit fuer uns da. Wir haben uns in diesem Haus wohlgefuehlt.
Fuer Ausfluege nach Verona, Venedig, die Huegellandschaft usw. ist der Palazzo Rosso ein idealer Ausgangspunkt.
