Il Geranio, a detached House located on the road between S.Agata Sui Due Golfi and the fishing village of Nerano, in the outskirts of the village of Monticchio. Set in typical Mediterranean countryside of olive groves and vineyards, is near other properties without losing a sense of intimacy and freedom. From the property a network of old tracks through the local countryside lead to other characteristic hamlets such as Schiazzano, Pastena and S.Agata Sui due Golfi. It has a furnished garden with a corner dedicated to the barbecue, with an adjacent garage if needed. The house is fully furnished to a quality standard and is composed of one double room, one twin room, a lounge with colour TV and sofa bed (sleeps 2), a large kitchen with electric hob/oven and dining area and also a large terrace for dining outside. Some small general stores and a grocery shop are at 1.500 mt., but the best place for shopping is S.Agata Sui Due Golfi at 2 Km. The nearest beach is Nerano at 7 Km.

Lying between the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast, the territory of Massa Lubrense is virtually triangular in shape, its north-eastern side borders with Sorrento, whilst the other two sides are formed by the Gulf of Salerno and the Bay of Naples, with Punta Campanella at its vertex, facing the island of Capri. Apart from the main town there are another seventeen villages which have developed from the ancient hamlets and are still linked by an intricate network of paths. One of these villages is Sant’Agata Sui Due Golfi, Its name says everything about the breathtaking views which it enjoys over both the Bays of Naples and Salerno. To be visited in the village, the Church (XVI century) famous for its very precious altar, with fine and elaborate inlaid works of precious marble. The Monastery of ' Il Deserto' and its famous belvedere above the Gulfs of Naples and Salerno made this site one of the most celebrated in the Campania region.

A perfect holidays

We think Il Geranio was the perfect holiday home and reviewing it would take more then 2500 characters. The house was exactly what we wanted and expected. Anyway our only disappointment, although Ricky prewarned us, was the street leading to the property which was far to tight for our car and we would have the car parked on the main road. Except for this little detail, we enjoyed every day of our one week stay at Il Geranio. .From there me and my family (husband + 2 children of 8 and 11) could walk to the neighbouring villages on various footpaths which we could easily find using the maps Ricky provided us. Also Ricky was reliable and at check-in he gave us all the information we needed. We couldn't believe when we asked about Mozzarella cheese to hear two cheese farms where just nearby the property. We would walk to either of the two every morning and get it for our light lunch. Also nearby there are a few places where you can dine. We recommend Il Tramonto Rosso where the pizza is superb and their charcoaled vegetables exquisite. Also the neighbouring village Monticchio had something charming. Finally a special mention to the neighbour Carmelina who was so friendly and gave us some fresh pork and a special recipe for it. The coutryside was so nice, fortunately the weather was warm and sunny being early October. This was an experience I wish to have again.

This villa provided a pleasant weeks holiday for my wife and I and our 2 adult children.
Being a little above the coast was a bit fresher than down at the seaside, but it was further to the beach than I expected, and access by car could have been better.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we had no issues with any of the facilities provided. Being country people ourselves the cock crow did not disturb us. No untoward rural smells in our experience.
Can reccomend the area for a real Italian experience. Lots of good restaurants in Santagata, Sorrento, on the beaches. And lots of sightseeing opportunities to Capri, Amalfi, Pompei etc. also by public transport.

A bit overrated

House was clean and the property is well situated.
But the anounced barbecue was not there, the kitchen hood did not function and the water in the shower did not run out (foot bath every time…)
But worst of all, we could never eat on the terrace due to the very strong smell of pigs coming from nearby (especially in the evenings). We liked the rural setting and the cocks cries at 5am where ok, but this was to much…
Conclusion : price much to high for what is offered.

I am vary sorry you did not enjoy your stay at "Il Geranio". We had about 16 family in the house this year before you came and they were all quiet happy about the house. Obviously some of them also had some kind of problem, which I like consider ordinary, can happen in every house, I belive also in yours. But as you know I always leave to guest my phone reference to solve any problems my arise. Did I forget to give my phone reference to you ?!!
To let you know, and for the future guest who my wish to book the property,we solved the maintenance problem you mentioned. About the Cock he actually sings at the sunrise around 06:30 and there is nothing I can do about, maybe I can ask the farmer if they like to sell it to me for my next Christmas lunch. About the pigs they are a real problem, once a week they need to be cleaned and that is when the smell comes out. On the other hand you have always got the chance to taste from the farmer home made Salami and fresh pork meet. After all the property is advertised as " experience the Mediterranean countryside" and the rates for a full week all included in the month of July for your party of 5 is still a good deal.
