This picturesque, rural property, consisting of a romantic 200 -year- old trullo and its integral but independent, modern villa is private without being isolated. Surrounded by its olive grove, its neighbours can barely be seen in the quiet lane, yet the town of Ceglie is visible from the edge of the land.Whenever you visit, there is garden produce: figs, almonds, cherries, beans, peas or mediterranean vegetables. Barbeque peacefully at the shady, garden table or lounge in the sunshine on the big veranda. The trullo, cool in summer, possesses its own separate facilities, a double bed, cane furniture, hanging space, linen, games and books. The villa has two comfortable rooms and a bathroom: one is a king-size bedroom with drawers and wardrobe; the other a living room with generous dining furniture,fitted kitchen, sofa-bed and character fireplace. There is a television and portable music centre together with CDs.It is possible to rent either the trullo, or the villa or the whole property

The local area is characterised by the stony red earth and olive groves, typical of Puglia. The property benefits from refreshing breezes, situated as it is on a low hill. Within a few miles, you find the undulating hills of vines or wheat fields populated with clusters of trulli houses. The Itria valley with attractions like the Trulli town of Alberobello; the round gabled town of Locorotondo or elegant Martina Franca, is only twenty minutes away by car. Ostuni, the lively, famed 'White City' is 11km away and Lecce, the Florence of the South, is an hour away, whereas there are several different types of beaches within easy reach. Ceglie itself is a quiet little town slightly off the tourist route and very unpretentious, yet it comes to life at night with festivals and illuminations. It has an historic centre with narrow, cobbled streets and a good variety of places to eat.

  • As from April 1st, the trullo, which sleeps two, will cost 300 euros a week during the whole year and the same for the villa, which sleeps 2-4 but the whole property will be 450 a week. Rented as a whole, the property is particularly suitable for two couples or for a family with 2-4 children, preferably over 5 years of age. Rates include basic groceries like coffee, tea, sugar as well as detergent and washing up liquid. They also include towels, linen and cleaning together with butane gas and electricity. A 10% deposit in Stirling secures the booking.

Notes: The dining table has capacity for 18 when fully extended but in the house, it seats 6. However, it is possible to take it out of doors in the summer and put all the garden chairs around it aswell for entertaining guests. The sofa divan will accommodate two more guests sleeping in the living room, making facility for six in all. The bathroom has toilet, bidet , handbasin and bath/shower. The cooker is gas or electric so that you are never without the means to cook. A clothes rack and pegs are provided for washing. An electric radiator and a gas heater can be moved around as required in cooler months and there are stacks of olive wood to burn in the fireplace. Beach towels, bag and umbrella are provided. The house and garden are maintained by a couple who live in the town and who will prepare for you and clean when you leave. They will organise a meal for your arrival if required. About five minutes away, there is a pretty little communal pool and billiard room called the Banana Club

This quaint Italian home is particularly suitable for people who like the countryside and who would like to see the real Puglia. It is comfortable and homely. The neighbours and the couple who maintain the house are generous and hospitable. They are genuinely interested in our guests and want to make their stay memorable but if you wish they will keep their distance. There are many places of interest within easy reach besides those already mentioned: noteably the caves at Castellano Grotte; Matera, the cave- town setting for the Passion of Christ and the whole of Salento with its picturesque resorts and beaches, together with the many fortified medieval sea-side towns like Otranto and Gallipoli. Bari and Brindisi are the big ports for Croatia and Greece. Sicily is near enough to visit for a short stay. Nearer to home, in Ceglie town itself, the Banana Club is a pretty swimming pool with restaurant, cafe showers and toilets

Il soggiorno al Trullo Giovanna è stato fantastico...il trullo è spazioso, fresco soprattutto sotto il cono. La veranda nuova è bellissima: noi facevamo colazione e cena lì fuori e c'era sempre un'arietta fresca bellissima. Anche leggere al mattino un bel libro in veranda era bellissimo...
E' una casa molto accoglientela, che alla fine del soggiorno senti un po' tua e ti dispiace lasciarla.
La distanza dal mare è di 25/30 km e si percorre in mezz'ora.
Ideale sia in estate che nelle altre stagioni se si vuole visitare la Puglia.
E' indispensabile avere l'automobile.
Consiglio a tutti questa property da affittare per l'intera parte.
