This self-catering villa, recently redecorated to a high standard, lies in a secluded spot in the Gran Sasso-Laga National Park, a protected area of remarkable natural beauty stretching across three regions (Abruzzo, Le Marche, Lazio). It is a fantastic place to spend your holidays with your family, or as a romantic retreat. The surrounding mountains are covered with forests crossed by many footpaths and streams. The villa is an ideal base for hiking, horse-riding, fishing, mountain-biking or simply to enjoy peace and tranquillity immersed in the nature. Table tennis and games are available at the villa. Within one hour's drive you will find wonderful sandy beaches and resorts on the Adriatic Sea (e.g. Giulianova Lido, Tortoreto Lido, Alba Adriatica) with many tourist attractions (e.g. the water park), several mountain resorts and beautiful rolling hills with many ancient villages and towns (Ascoli Piceno, Atri, Civitella, Teramo, L'Aquila etc.). This property is located 15 kilometres from Teramo. The nearest village is Santo Stefano di Torricella Sicura (km 6 from the villa). It is a lovely place to spend a relaxing holiday immersed in the nature, away from it all, and to experience the true Italian rural life. The villa is quite far from other houses and main roads and it guarantees absolute tranquillity and privacy. The view of the surrounding mountains is awesome, to be fully enjoyed sitting in the garden with a glass of Trebbiano or Montepulciano d'Abruzzo in your hand. The property comprises a 350-square-metre garden with fruit trees, garden chairs, hammock and barbeque, patio with table for al fresco dining, living room with 3-seater sofa, two armchairs, open fireplace and beamed ceiling, fully-equipped kitchen/dining room with beamed ceiling and open fireplace (a limited amount of wood logs is provided free of charge), two double bedrooms, two single bedrooms, two shower-rooms and two utility rooms. All rooms are nicely furnished and offer a comfortable accommodation. The whole property is fenced and there is parking space for two cars within the fence.

Local activities

Hiking, mountain-biking, horse riding, fishing, skiing, climbing, bird-watching, sight-seeing; kayaking, sailing and windsurfing in the nearby Lake Campotosto and Adriatic sea. At the villa, table tennis and board games (in English and Italian) are available.

The National Park

The surrounding mountains are part of the Gran Sasso-Laga National Park, a protected area home to many species of trees, plants and animals, such as the golden eagle, the deer and the chamois. The Park comprises the highest peak in the Appenines (Gran Sasso - mt. 2912) and the southern-most glacier in Europe; both can be reached with the help of local guides. There are many tracks leading to gorges, springs, waterfalls, caves, ancient hermitages, churches, castles and abandoned villages.

The cuisine

This area is famous for the quality of its cuisine, and at any village restaurant you will find excellent food at low prices. Truffles and wild 'Porcini' mushrooms are abundant in these forests and many local trattorias serve porcini-based dishes that you simply won't find anywhere else. Locally produced wines include Trebbiano, Cerasuolo and world-famous Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.
