A car is essential to visit Lecce, Otranto, Ostuni and other wonderful historic places as well as our local communities. There are restaurants and pizzerias in Casalabate itself, a small supermarket, butcher and fishmonger, fruit and veg store and the Sunday market offers a wealth of local produce and products.

You will be personally welcomed by Bob and Debbie, the English owners of Villa Rosa. If required, we can also stock the fridge and freezer in advance. Please request pro-forma shopping list/ homemade freezer dinners list if you require either of these services. Payment for shopping/freezer dinners is due on arrival. The washing machine is in the separate laundry room. Parents of small children should be aware that the 10m x 5m swimming pool is situated in the rear courtyard and is not enclosed. However we have provided child safety gates across the rear patio doors accessing the courtyard. A sandpit for small children can also be found in the rear courtyard.

How to Relax - Stay at Villa Rosa

We had a wonderful time at Villa Rosa. From the moment of receiving our directions we knew that the whole approach was both carefully thought through and relaxed. Clear instructions and superb e-mail correspondence meant we travelled with confidence. The owners were really welcoming; with a hamper second to none, including handmade goodies and local produce, so no panic over first meals. The facilities are great and travelling by car in the area is easy. For us, alternate days of pool with local browsing and travelling further afield were the perfect combination. There are superb restaurants in the area, read the visitors book when you get there. You will soon sink into the local approach to life, conversation and perambulation. There are some excellent beaches in the area varying from quiet sandy coves to fully serviced beaches with bars; the local guides at Villa Rosa provide all the information you need. We re-booked quite soon after we returned home and are now counting down the weeks.

A very nice villa set in a quiet area. Close to the sea and small seaside town. Would recommend a car to see the surrounding area. Villa has excellent pool, secluded garden,and nice interior with well equiped kitchen.
If you want bright lights and big city this is not the holiday for you. We did not see any other nationality other than Italians in 10 days.
Excellent for that authentic Italian holiday, get away from it all
to Italy like it was 25 years ago.

We had an excellent week at Villa Rosa with superb weather and consquently made full use of the good sized swimming pool. The information supplied was well presented and, more importantly, completely accurate. The property was very clean and well maintained and I would have no hesitation in recommending to friends or indeed anyone else!
The owners had left a lot of material about local places to visit, including ristorantes and this was enhanced by the visitors book (such a good idea!) where comments can be recorded about the quality of food and service etc to help you make up your mind on where to visit. In our week we couldn't expect to see everything and a further visit may well be necessary in the future.

We had a lovely holiday at Villa Rosa. A very well maintained 'home from home' with many thoughtful touches. Excellent swimming pool and private suntrap rear garden. Ideal base for sightseeing in southern Puglia and only a few minutes walk from the seafront. A real Italian experience.

Excellent spacious accommodation, friendly and helpful owners, pleasant area, well-maintained swimming pool, generous food basket - I am very glad that I took my friends advice and stayed with my family in Villa Rosa in April 2009. There is everything there to help you enjoying holidays. When you are there look at the book of comments for a friendly advice. Note that a car is needed to get there and around, especially in the "low season".
