Fantastic Villa & Holiday
Review Submitted: September 2, 2008
Date of Stay: August 2008
Villa Fredavera was wonderful, the pictures do not do it justice. We would recommend the villa to anyone! We stayed there the last two weeks in August with friends, there were 4 adults and 4 children (Aged between 8 & 11) and we were well catered for. The inside kitchen is very small and was easily crowded however this did not matter as we used the cooker and oven outside an awful lot.
The pool was perfect and most importantly not too slippery around the outside, there was also plenty of shade to be found amongst the trees, the hammocks were well used too!
Both the owners and the agent could not have been more helpful, they answered all our questions and supplied us with good directions, we were met in the town and led to our villa which helped. The only thing we would recommend would be to take some water for your arrival as we did not have any included in the welcome pack and as we arrived late at night we did not want to venture out, however us adults were o.k as there were bottles of beer and wine !
The Villa is situated in an ideal spot to see the area, Puglia is so beautiful and the Italians are very friendly,we had some fun trying to get understood as English was not always used, this is what made it so great! There are plenty of places to visit, Ostuni, Mesagne, Cisternino, Alberabello, Lecce and Galipoli were all fantastic. We found the beaches in the South( Procutio) were the best but did mean a longer drive (1 hour) but well worth the trip. We also found a beach nearby that was nice and only 20 minutes away, they were very safe for children, young ones included as the sea was really shallow for ages.
A car is essential, as the villa is situated in the middle of the countryside just out side the town, which was great as the children could laugh and play freely.
Whilst we were away one of the children was ill with an ear infection, the agent was brilliant and so helpful, he explained that the pharmacies would give out anibiotics over the counter without the need to see a doctor which we did!
There were big supermarkets near by with plenty of fresh fruit and veg (So Cheap!) we tended to use Aucian (10 mins away). Plenty of restaurants too, all were great, we especially enjoyed eating the antipasti.
Have never been anywhere before where we felt there was still so much left to see and do, have fallen in love with Italy and can't wait to return!
