The villa is in 2900 sq.m of land (c 3/4 acre) comprising Mediterranean garden and olive groves, with its own private swimming pool (open mid May - mid September in 2009), and a roof terrace with a wide view of the Adriatic Sea, 2 km away. It is in open countryside but only 4km from the interesting small town of Carovigno. It has a comfortable living and dining room with air-conditioning / central heating. The villa was newly fitted in 2006, with brand-new bathrooms and a new fitted kitchen, and three double bedrooms, one with en suite shower room. All the furniture and equipment are new and well appointed and the villa is redecorated each season. Outside, there are two large covered terraces, a pool terrace, a small trullo and a pizza oven. Olive trees, pears, almonds, pomegranates, grapes, figs, prickly pears, lemons, artichokes, etc. which guests may use, grow in the garden, plus trees, flowers and shrubs. The villa is located 2 km from the sea, in the countryside between Carovigno and the coastal resort of Specchiolla, 20 minutes from Brindisi airport and 65 minutes from Bari. Carovigno is the last town on the edge of Le Murge - the upland plains of Puglia - before the land gradually falls in height to meet the coastal plain of Brindisi. Close by are various beach resorts, small ports, and the internationally protected nature reserve of Torre Guaceto. Carovigno itself is an historic town, rich in folkloric festivals. For a small town (circa 14,000 inhabitants) it is surprisingly lively, and a real centre for gastronomy, with numerous good restaurants and shops, a market on Tuesday mornings, and an internet café. It is also within a short drive or cycle ride of several fine beaches, and well-situated for many places of interest, such as Alberobello, Lecce, Martina Franca, Ostuni, and Castellana Caves.   • Rates are inclusive of bed linen, water, gas for cooking, electricity (extra charge per meter for autumn / winter heating), pool maintenance, gardener, welcome pack, and final cleaning. These rates are quoted for a maximum party size of 4. For 5 or more people, please enquire for rates. 30% deposit needed to secure booking, balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. For short notice bookings, when direct bank transfer will be required, email us for details. A security deposit of £250 will be required against key loss and breakages or damage, returnable within 10 working days by direct bank transfer after inventory check.
  • Please note that the pool will not be available after mid September in 2009, and will re-open around mid May 2010.

Notes: Perfect for summer outdoor living, with large covered terraces surrounding the villa, where seating is provided for outdoor dining, or just relaxing. Laze by the pool in summer, or sit on the roof terrace with a cool drink in the evening, gazing at the blue Adriatic, any time of the year. In the owners' view this could be suitable for families; please note that the pool area is unguarded, and parts of the garden are rocky. There is a hip-height wall around the roof terrace. Thus children, especially young ones, would need careful supervision. All the accommodation is on one level but there is a small step up to the terrace around the house of about 4.5 in. (12 cms.) The roof terrace would be inaccessible to anyone with mobility problems but the lower terraces are only one small step down from villa. Mobile phone reception is good. Internet access is available in the internet cafe in the town. Guests are welcome to help themselves to seasonal produce e.g. grapes, figs, almonds etc

More information about what to see and do: Puglia has so much to see and do, and is still largely unknown to non-Italians. Of course, in summer, the beaches are the biggest draw, but there are numerous interesting small towns and villages, as well as the wonderful Baroque city of Lecce, all within an hour's drive or less from this villa. Some of the architectural features, such as the 'trulli' houses, are unique to the local area. There are also natural features close by, such as caves and gorges, and the marine and nature reserve of Torre Guaceto, and many churches and grottoes and sites of archaeological interest. For children, there is the Zoo Safari Park, and other attractions such as water parks, and on the coast there are facilities for water sports and other activities. The owners have compiled information which is available in the villa on some of the many attractions, and have also created a web site with more information on-line. La villa est très calme et très agrèable. La vue est superbe. L'accueil en français de Silvana qui s'occupe de la maison est très chaleureux et efficace. Près de la villa, on trouve de belles plages (certaines dans une réserve naturelle restent sauvages). La situation est idéale pour les visites touristiques. Les propriétaires donnent toutes les informations nécessaires pour que les hôtes passent les meilleures vacances possibles. Une location vraiment idéale.

Stayed at Villa 3 weeks in summer 09. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. The surrounding villages, the friendliness of the locals were most welcomed. The multi-lingual villa help to hand was excellent. The food and travelling around the region was wonderful and returning to the villa and its pool, in its secluded setting was perfect. Would recommend to adults and families looking for a break from a busy lifestyle. Whilst a car is needed, beaches are close by and a short enough drive for those with families, to the theme and safari park in Fasano. Travelled with 12-year old boy and day trips to places such as Martina Franca, Lecce, Ostuni and Abarbarella were still enough to occupy him. We had a wonderful wonderful time and so did he. We would recommend this villa to friends, family and anyone who wishes to listen.

The villa was just as advertised, everything seemed to be in the right place. Me, my wife and our 4 boys had a fantastic time- the view from the roof, the breeze from the sea, figs to eat in the garden, all very peaceful and secluded too.
Plenty of things to do and see locally if you want to, the markets particularly are a joy and much cheaper than in France as are the restaurants.
We'd recommend the villa to almost anyone, except alpine climbers!

Our wonderful week 4-11 October 2008

What a wonderful retreat. Choose between lazing by the pool with a book ( good selection in the villa ), take a 5 minute car ride into Carovigno to buy some excellent fresh breads, cheeses or pasta's or take a short car ride to some excellent beaches.
The villa itself has all the conveniences one could ask for, in a wonderful setting amongst the various fruit trees. Sitting on the rooftop terrace with views of the sea provided an unforgetable setting for breakfast.
The driving directions provided from Brindisi airport to the villa were spot on and we were met on arrival by Silvana who was exceptionally helpful and also provided us with fruits out of her own garden.
Being food and wine lovers, we can thoroughly recommend the various restuarants around the main square in Carovigno.
A trip to Alberobello is a must, to see the home of the Trulli's. We even got invited into a trulli to have a look around by a very friendly local couple.
All in all, the villa, friendly local people, local attractions and beaches made this a holiday to remember and we hope to revisit in the not to distant future.

A very easy holiday in a beautiful place!

This trip was easiest holiday to plan ever. Sheila couldn't have been more helpful, both before we went and while we were there. All her notes and complete thoroughness were second to none. We were warmly welcomed by Silvana (lives locally) whose English is faultless. She made us feel completely at home and was extremely willing.
The villa was perfect for what we wanted. It was very neat and clean, had good quality bedding, good showers & in a great location as long as you have a car. Well equipped for cooking delicious meals for which all the food was bought locally in Caravigno. Fresh pasta, fish, bread, cheese, veg etc. Sadly there were no figs left in the garden as we were there end Sept, early October but the weather was lovely. Only one day of rain which cleared by early afternoon. 3 good sunbathing days but not quite hot enough to swim, the rest just pleasant for excursions etc. The men came trying to find golf somewhere but couldn't. I would love to return to Villa Siena but perhaps a month or so earlier to capture the perfect weather for a tan! Much recommended. Great value, very comfortable, friendly locals and easy to find.
