Set in an elevated position providing panoramic views over Genn'e Mari beach, Villa Barretti is a detached villa providing private, peaceful accommodation for up to 8/9 people. The entire villa was lovingly restored in 2006. The villa offers 2 large paved and 2 further terraces, all with spectacular views, a covered patio, a 12 x 5 metre infinity-style pool, a 3,000sq m garden, outdoor BBQ and 2 outdoor showers. Overlooking the sea, and 10-15 mins. walk from the beach, the 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom villa features a spacious living room and all modern amenities. Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, is just 30km away and Villasimius, the popular summer resort just 12 km. The villa offers exclusive privacy and includes all mod-cons including air-conditioning, washing machine and dishwasher. The local beach can be reached by a path, avoiding roads. The pool and one of the en-suite bedrooms are on a separate terrace, down a flight of steps accessed via a gate, affording protection for toddlers

  • All bedrooms have air conditioning and two of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. Two bedrooms have doors opening onto an outside patio. One of the bedrooms is very large (and en-suite) and is on a separate terrace opening onto the pool which is on a separate terrace from the main house. This provides great privacy, but means it is unsuitable for children who require supervision. It also means that people using this room will be away from those using rooms in the main house.

Nearby beaches / facilities: There is a gorgeous sandy beach that is accessible by a fairly steep path in10-15 mins. It avoids any roads. There is a golf course about 20km away in Villasimius, a horse riding centre, and boats can be rented there too

Shops / restaurants / bars / nightlife: There is a good supermarket / fishmonger / butcher / ATM/ cafe / bar / pizzeria at about a 20-25 minute pleasant walk down the hill and along the beach. It is only viable during daylight! There are other restaurants nearby, but you will need a car to reach them. If you want discos, Villa Barretti is probably not for you! It is quiet, and nightlife revolves around barbecues on the terrace and watching the sunset over the sea.

Accommodation / safety: The property is on four terraces, and accommodation and the pool are arranged over the top two. The main villa is on the top terrace, the pool is on the lower terrace which is accessed via a gate, so small children can be managed. n.b. one of the en-suite bedrooms is separate from the main house, on the lower (pool) terrace and so is unsuitable for unsupervised children.

We had a great stay here in September 2008 with our family.

Fantastic outdoor living spaces, with a big garden over four large sun terraces (including some olive trees!). The villa does indeed enjoy 'stunning' views over the beach and sea beyond (no hyperbole here then!) and is nice and private. It's away from the road and there's a path to the beach so no need to worry about kids. It looks south so gets all-day sunshine (unlike another place we stayed at). The view from the large airy lounge is also superb. Gorgeous pool ( we had no problems).

This area of Sardinia is delightful, with lots of great beaches and places to explore. In September there were no crowds at all. Local facilities are very good, but you need to drive to them. Mostly we stayed in.

The house was very clean, nicely finished and well equipped, especially the kitchen which makes a change from some places!

The owners have obviously responded to earlier feedback as cleaning is now included, as is an electricity allowance and the local english-speaking agent is fantastic. Highly recommended!

Great Location

The property was clean and in a great location. Be aware that one of the double bedrooms is underneath the house, by the pool, so one couple had to sleep down there separate from their children in main house.

The beach is well worth the trip down the hill, but do not attempt the walk with toddlers or babies.

There were no basic supplies in the house, toilet paper etc.

We had a major problem with the pool and were without it for 2 and half days of a 6 day stay. I hope this has been sorted out.

Electricity is not included and was very expensive. Cleaning charge is high and does not include the kitchen. This may be an island wide problem.

The owners do not live in the country so any problems will involve expensive phone calls.
