Natural Beauties near the Property:
There are a couple of very nice places not too far from the property. The closest is, without any doubt, the rocks shown in one of the photos of the property, at less than a kilometer walk, where you can lie down your towel and dive and swim in to a crystal clear sea. If you like best beaches, there is a wonderful beach at only 4 km from the property called “La Speranza” characterized by the clearness of the water and the particular “greenish rocks” surrounded by the typical Mediterranean bush. Just on the beach there is a well known bar-restaurant whose speciality is fish.
On the road to “La Speranza” there are a couple of very nice creeks that are (unfortunately) reachable only from the sea, but considering that during summertime it is possible to rent some rubber boats from the harbour, you would be able to reach this uncontaminated and obviously not crowded spots.
Natural Beauties in the Area:
Since is impossible to list all the places you can go to when you are here, I just mention a couple of “must see” in the area around Alghero.
The Neptun Caves are located at the sea level in the edge of the Capo Caccia promontory and they are one of the most memorable experience you can have down here. They are deep in the rock by the sea in thousand years, full of stalactites and stalagmites and underground lakes that will make you forget the 656 steps you’ll have to walk down and then back up. For not so fit people it’s possible to reach the caves by sea with a boat leaving from the harbour of Alghero.
Another nice place to visit is the Noah’s ark, our natural park full of typical flora and fauna with some well positioned spots from where you can enjoy magnificent views of the gulf.
Finally, for those who are interested in archaeological sites, the Nuraghe Palmavera, a very interesting human settlement dated X-IV b.C. and inhabited up to the Punic-Roman age (III-II b.C.).
Going out and shopping:
As I said in the area description, Alghero can be considered a small size town and its heart can be identified in its historic town centre. Here you will find any kind of shop you could look for, such as clothes shops, shoes shops, perfumeries, crafts shops and many jewelleries specialized in making coral jewels (the coast of Alghero is called “The Coral Coast”). In the historic town centre you can find lots of bars, pubs, typical restaurants, pizzerias, in some of which you can buy metres of pizza, and home made ice creams.
Probably the best part of the old town are its bastions and towers, a really nice walk by the sea, with some pubs and restaurant that offer good drinks and food along a magnificent view.
Finally for people who like dancing there are two really nice and large discos that are very crowded during summer time (June to September).
All of this and a lot more is awaiting for you…… So have a good holiday in Alghero.
