Dar Bajda is located in centre of the ancient hill top village of Naxxar. It is within walking distance of the main square abounding with village shops including old fashioned grocery shops, the best butcher shop in Malta, a fishmonger & a supermarket. Also in the village square is the magnificent Palazzo Parisio - the local 19th Century manor house which is open to the public, has a restaurant & is well worth a visit. Also worth a visit is Mosta Town - hardly 3kms down the road and renowned for its church with the third largest dome in the world where a WW2 bomb fell but did not explode. The coast road is 15 minutes drive giving access to many resorts with good bathing facilities like Bugibba, St Pauls Bay, Salina, Bahar ic Caghaq & St Julians. Rural but superbly located for quick excursions to Valletta (8km - historical lots to see), Sliema-St Julians (4kms- smart -lots of cafes, restaurants & night spots), Gozo island - lovely day trip (17kms to car ferry crossing at Cirkewwa).

Safety and hygiene: Children should always be accompanied by an adult in the enclosed pool area. The gates to the pool area should be kept closed and bolted to prevent entry by unaccompanied children. Do not let children wander alone in the garden and pool area. The Swimming pool is only 2.5 m deep (7') at the deep end. NO DIVING please. Care should be taken. No more than eight persons should make use of the pool. Please use the outdoor shower in the garden and remove sun lotions before using the pool. Sun umbrellas should be closed at night because of night damp and wind. Please abide by the Housekeeper's instructions regarding rubbish disposal. For safety reasons roof terraces are out of bounds. Accommodation is strictly restricted to the number of persons booked and confirmed and should never exceed 8 persons. Sorry but NO DOGS OR PETS are allowed in the house. The house is non-smoking. Thanks for your cooperation.

Useful local contacts/Car hire/Airport transfers: CAR RENTAL and AIRPORT TRANSFERS: It is best and cheaper to pre book Car Rental or Airport transfers directly. Ring Swansea on 00356 21313261 and quote Dar Bajda. USEFUL CONTACTS: Housekeeper - Rose - Tel 21436994 - lives close by in the village; prepares the house for your arrival and provides linen/towels for the number of persons booked; also provides weekly cleaning/ linen change for bookings of over 7 days. Additional cleaning/maid service and baby sitting can be provided by private arrangement with her. Gardener/Handyman - Bertu (contact through Rose) - has access to water the garden twice weekly. He comes in early at 6am and will not disturb you. Pool attendant Martin (contact through Rose) needs to maintain the pool at least once weekly. He also comes in early. Always follow his instructions and those of the Housekeeper regarding pool chemicals he or she may use. The pool room is strictly out of bounds. Emergency/plumber Etienne( through Rose)

Arriving and departing: We require full details of your incoming and outgoing flight arrangements in order to hand over keys to the house. Arriving guests may enter after 3pm. Departing guests are requested to vacate the house by 10am. This way we have 4 hours to clean and prepare the house after previous guests have departed. Polite Notice: We expect you to inform the Housekeeper of any damages caused by you during your stay which we may not be aware of. This way we can repair or replace before the next guests arrive. Please also inform us if you notice any damages on entry (which we might not also have been aware of or noticed).

We were a group of three young couples and stayed in Dar Bajda for one week in May 2009.

The kitchen was great and well equipped and we had no problem cooking our dinner in the house. The pool area was beautiful and the rest of the house was well-maintained. The area itself was lovely and the Parish Church of Our Lady and Palazzo Parisio are both worth visiting. It was easy to get around the island by bus or taxi (since we didn't have a car).

The housekeeper and the owner were always ready to help us with even the smallest problems. I would definitely recommend the place.

We stayed in the Villa in October 09 and we found it a real nice place. The villa is large and the housekeeper was very helpfull and friendly. The pool was clean and garden was very peaceful a real relaxing garden. The kitchen was very modern and clean. The bed rooms again were clean. As for the comment in a previous review about TV!......... Who goes on holiday to watch TV anyway!....especially when you have the Island of Malta to explore! The only complaint was that I did not book a second week.

Beautiful old property

We stayed here in September 09 and had a wonderful holiday. The house is like a tardis, it looks small from the outside but is very deep and opens up on to the beautiful garden. The kitchen and bathrooms were all very modern and the house was very clean and bright. We have young children and it was ideal for them because the pool is on a raised level which is gated off. The housekeeper, Rose, couldn't have been nicer. Nearby there was everything we needed for self catering (supermarkets, butcher, chemist etc). Palazzo Parizio is very beautiful and worth visiting though it was expensive to eat in. I would definitely recommend it to others.

First rate holiday location

We have been to Malta on many occasion but this was the first time we have stayed in a villa. It suited us just right with 5 adults and one baby. The villa had every thing you needed for a successful family holiday. The brochure description was accurate. The villa was clean and well looked after. We would certainly recommend it to any one looking for a villa holiday and would very much like to go again our selves. The villa was in a quiet location and had many original features. Every thing you needed was on hand in the village even the bread man that comes down the street every morning. Rose the house keeper was very helpful if you needed any thing. Even if you don't have a hire car its ideal just to wander around the village with bus stops close by and the buses are very cheap and Worth the experience alone

We have been visiting malta for 18 years and we have always found great villa's,however this villa was a letdown! The pool was murky when we arrived and by the 6th day it was bright green. Pool shower floor was green, dirty and disgusting.No cable tv so unless your maltese it's useless.Some exterior garden and balcony lights did not work.The aircon charges are disgusting and a ripoff.Pointed out these to the owner and he didnt want to here our concerns.Would not recommend this villa which is a shame because it has huge potential
Owner's Response: Hopefully you can judge from the content of this review the nature of the complainant and balance this against our other very positive reviews.

Any pool will lose its clarity if people swim in it with excessive suntan lotion or if it is used by too many people during the peak summer months. This particular tenant had Maltese family and hosted a reception at the property attended by a large number of people. It is inconceivable for the pool to have turned bright green.

There is cable tv at the property. This tenant objected because there were no English channels. In fact most of the programming on the local Maltese channels is in English but of course the property does not have the usual array of English TV.

Had she been notified, the housekeeper would have replaced any lightbulbs that may have blown.

The aircon charges are expensive and we apologise for this on the website. It is a product of the extremely high commercial electricity charges we have to pay. The charges are transparent on the website and the contract.
