Mauritius North Coast holiday villa: Calodyne-Sur-Mer

Having booked carhire prior to arrival, we arrived at Villa Nicolenna to meet a very friendly and informative representative, who showed us to the villa and the amenities. The grounds were beautiful and well kept and back right on to the sea. The pool was always very quiet and everyday we used it we were the sole occupiers. The villa owner had said that the villa furniture had been upgraded recently and the accommodation was well equipped with comfortable furniture. We opted for more frequent maid service and the Villa was in excellent condition. Air conditioning in the bedrooms was a real bonus and helped us sleep at night. The large Tesco-equivalent supermarket is in Grad Baie which is about 10-15 mins away depending on traffic - there are smaller places closer which carry essential supplies (just outside the complex entry road). The large supermarket was all that we tended to use as we were able to purchase everything in one go. There isnt a beach at Villa Nicolenna that you can bathe on, and we tended to explore various beaches as we dont like staying put for too long in one spot!. Our favourite beach was Perybere which takes about 10 minutes to get to following the coastal road. I am glad we had a car as it meant we could explore the whole island with ease. Will definitely be going back to Mauritius and Villa Nicolenna next year and will be taking our friends with us.
Best spots: Perybere beach and cafe, Chinese restaurant in Grand Baie (excellent seafood!), Port Louis market, Vanille Crocodile Park and the nature reserves on the island.
