Kotor Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the best preserved and certainly the most beautiful medieval town in the region. This walled City is in the Boka Bay, sandwiched between the majestic Mount Lovcen and the sea. It is one of the main tourist destinations in Montenegro and has a wealth of attractions for the visitor but still remains a fully functioning town with residents and locals living and working. Within the town is a maize of cobbled streets and alleys which contain churches, museums, venetian architecture and a cathedral dating back to 1166. From here you will also find the steps to the Old Fort where you will experience some of the most stunning views of the bay.

Kotor is a waterfront town which boasts year round interest and is known for hosting numerous festivals, the squares are often filled with entertainment such as plays and fashion shows from some of the world's top designers. The marina is located just outside its fortress walls and from here you can take a boat trip along the fjord or sit and watch the yachts and cruise ships sail in. The local beach is a 5-10 min walk where swimming or sunbathing is possible. The town has all the shops, restaurants and bars you could desire right on your doorstep, there is a lively daily market, selling organic produce and fresh flowers which in the evenings are replaced by stalls selling jewellery and trinkets. A cinema is located in the square opposite the apartment showing English speaking blockbuster movies. A new shopping centre is also within a 10 minute walk with a fitness gym and soft play area for children, very few cities can boast to have so much in such close proximity as does Kotor, which also rings true for Montenegro in general which is blessed with some of the most beautiful beaches, mountains and scenery.

The Bay of Kotor has the deepest fjords in the Mediterranean and is officially listed within the top 10 'Most Beautiful Bays in the World'.

Review Submitted: May 15, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2007
We stayed with friends in this apartment for 2 weeks last summer and we had the most wonderful holiday. The apartment is in a great location being right in the heart of everything wilth the marina and wonderful restaurants and cafes all at hand. As for the apartment we couldn't believe our eyes when we stepped in! It was so amazing and spacious, it was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. Thank you once again!

A really special place to stay

Review Submitted: February 5, 2011 Date of Stay: January 2011
We come to Montenegro about twice a year so we have stayed in a lot of self catering apartments in and around Kotor. As this time we were taking friends with us, we decided to try this apartment as it looked a bit roomier and quite unusual. We were not disappointed. This is a very grand apartment and well equipped to accommodate our party.

There's still some sense of what the building would have been like as a hotel in its prime. There's a wide hallway from which all the rooms come off - still with original doors and window shutters throughout. The rooms are all spacious with high ceilings and both the en-suite and main bathroom have a separate bath and shower. (usually in the Old Town you'd just expect small showers so this was quite a treat).

The kitchen is big too - plenty of room to cook breakfast and eat around the table which we tended to do every morning. There's a great bakery just a few yards from the entrance and small convenience shops in the Old Town with larger supermarkets within easy walking distance.

The beds were comfortable and all rooms were simply but well furnished. We were there in Jan-Feb and there was still snow in the mountains but the apartment has plenty of heaters so we were very cosy at night. There's also a good stack of DVDs and games which we dipped into on a couple of evenings in when we'd had too much Vranac or Luzo (Grappa) the night before.

I'd suggest a drive to Lovcen if you can get there - the views are truly breathtaking. And the new marina at Tivat is definintely worth a visit. It's going to put Montenegro up there with Monte Carlo but still unspoilt - surrounded by dramatic mountains and great beaches.

Overall I'd highly recommend this place to stay - particularly if you are a larger group. It was a luxury to have so much space in the Old Town.

Simply Stunnning!

Review Submitted: June 15, 2010 Date of Stay: June 2010
I cannot say enough about this wonderful apartment. The location is perfect; everything you need is just a short walk away. A farmer's market just ouside the city walls provides fresh produce, local cheeses, meats, and breads. Two small grocery stores are also located nearby. Within the Old Town are all the restaurants you could desire. We found three Internet Cafes.

The apartment itself is spacious with high ceilings, deep molding, beautiful wood flooring, shuttered windows, and a clean uncluttered decor. We enjoyed having coffee and drinks on the terrace off the master bedroom.

The setting is absolutely stunning. I highly recommend climbing to the top of the St John's Fortress. A trip through the nearby Lovcen mountains is also a must! Sitting under umbrellas in the outdoor cafes in the squares and just watching all of the people and hearing all of the different languages was also very interesting. We found the local people to be most kind and helpful. We had a very good experience in Kotor!

Kotor and appartamento in springtime

Review Submitted: May 5, 2010 Date of Stay: April 2009
The location of appartamento is very good specially if it's possible to stay two weeks as we did. For an architect Kotor and also Montenegro tells stories from the ancient times. We saw many small, interesting old towns and documented them with cameras. We had a hired car to travel, also on high mountains -recommended, but you must be careful on Montenegro's narrow, but good roads!
The appartamento itself was spacious and roomy for us and clean. Equipment was also modern and good. Almost as in northern countries we've used to. And Kathryn who was the connect person for us was friendly, sympathetic and helpful.
We can recommend this country, town and appartamento to everybody who is interested in history, old cultures and particularly fantastic landscapes of Balkan. For adult persons and even families with children! Montenegro people are civilized, friendly and also used to tourists. They (younger people) can English, older German and even some Swedish, many Italy. But Serbo-croatian-montenegro dialect was for us difficult to understand. If you want to get beautiful smile of them for example in restaurant try to learn some words! Dobar dan! Da li imate menu! Konobar, racun molim vas! Hvala! Dovidenja... Good day! Have you menu of the day! Servant, the bill please! Thank you! See you later...
We had any negative experiences in those two weeks in Kotor and Montenegro. April or May are for us, adult persons, the best time for vacation in Kotor. Not so many tourists, prices are reasonable, service better and so on. But if you are younger, I suppose, June, July, August will be better. More discos, younger people from different countries...
I and my companions we were very satisfied for our vacation. We had interesting things enough to see, good food and drinks in Kotor and Montenegro. What does a man need more?

A Gem!

Review Submitted: March 15, 2010 Date of Stay: August 2009
We spent a lovely fortnight with family last summer. The apartment really is beautiful and the owners have clearly tried to think of everything from board games and books to hairdryers and irons.

The apartment is in the old town which is fairytale setting in itself, but as there was always something going on we found the location to be superb which saved us having to make trips there everyday, plus everything you really want is there anyway. We were pleased to discover Kotor had its own beach too which is only a short walk from the apartment, it is a shingle beach but has a great beach bar next to it and is in a beautiful setting and the water was lovely for our afternoon swims. Overal we though this apartment was quite a find!
