Compact holiday villa nestling in the hills above the famous island resort of Sveti Stefan. 8 x 5 metre Swimming pool with uninterrupted views over the Adriatic. Large terrace with table tennis table and lawn under shade of an olive tree. Outdoor shower, Weber barbecue. Open plan ground floor with fully equipped kitchen, dining table for eight and sitting area for six with Satellite TV and DVD. Two 1.40m wide double bedrooms with access to balcony with views of Sveti Stefan, one single room with ladder to gallery bed, open mezzanine area with single bed. Shower room and loo and additional loo outside for swimmers to use. Wonderful walks up the mountains or fifteen minutes to secluded beach with excellent restaurant. Restaurant and shop in village. Budva night life twenty minutes by bus.

Blizikuce is a small village in the hills above the coast road, a couple of kilometres south of the famous island resort of Sveti Stefan. By car it is fifteen minutes to the bustling resort towns of Budva to the north and Petrovac to the south, where there are excellent fresh food markets. The beach at Galia is a fifteen minute walk down an almost hidden path through the trees. The ancient capital of Montenegro Cetinje is a forty five minute drive away. Tivat airport is forty five minutes drive away with direct flights from London on Saturdays and Wednesdays from May to September. It is an hour to the airport of Podgorica and two hours to Dubrovnik airport in Croatia.

The single bedroom has an additional gallery bed accessed by a ladder which is not be suitable for the very young or the infirm. The mezzanine bed is open to the stairway with a balustrade. All rooms except the mezzanine have cupboard storage. The mezzanine has under bed drawers and a chest of drawers.

Notes: The villa makes good use of space with the freezer and washing machine hidden in a cupboard area under the stairs. The swimming pool comes with a safety net cover which people with young children will be obliged to put on when they are not swimming. The property is suitable but not ideal for toddlers unless they are closely supervised and the pool safety net is used. There are sharp drops down the terraces beside the pool. There is a fence but it will not stop persistent wanderers. Parking close to the house is only possible for confident drivers but it is not far to a parking area in the village.

Flight Details: Montenegro Airlines now fly on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from London Gatwick to Tivat, just 35 minutes from the house. Easy Jet, BA, and Thomsonfly all fly to Dubrovnik in Croatia. With border crossing and ferry the journey takes between 2 and 3 hours from the airport but the flights are cheaper.

Car hire: We use a local firm run by Marko. He is based in Sveti Stefan and has a fleet of vehicles from a Peugeot 206 upwards. If you land in Dubrovnik he will meet you at the airport in a people carrier and bring you to Sveti Stefan and give your car. This service cost 90-100 Euros each way and car hire (for a 206) starts at 50 Euros a day for a seven day hire. Contact Marko at dmzivkovic@cg.yu.

Young Children: Young children have stayed at the property but the stairs are open slats. If your children are used to stair gates and are not confident on stairs you would have to supervise them well. If you use one double room and they use the single room and the other double then you can close the doors. We would not recommend putting a young child in the gallery or mezzanine beds. The pool comes with a safety net which you would be responsible for putting on if you were not swimming. There are steep drops down of five feet either side of the pool. The fence is as shown on the photos. Again it depends on you and the nature of your children. The terrace is large and if they the children will obey instructions to stay away from the fence then you will be fine.

Thank you, thank you, thank you... We all had the most wonderful time in Blizikuce. The house is wonderful. It was so peaceful. The weather was great. (SC 2006). We had a very relaxing holiday at your 'English House' in Blizikuce. The weather was hot for 3 days and a bit mixed for 3 days [with a colossal thunderstorm on the Friday night before we came home] so we managed to get in some sunbathing, as well as a little exploration (Kotor, Cetinje, Budva, Petrovac etc) - the cross-country minor road from Petrovac to Cetinje was very 'interesting' as was the 'roulette-based' driving style of the locals! The villa setting is lovely and the scenery is spectacular - most impressive. Everyone - Marko, Jovo, Zorka, the man who did the pool - was very helpful and made us very welcome.
Just to say many thanks from us all for letting us stay in your wonderful villa. We had a great time. (NW2007)

Spring holiday in Montenegro

Stayed at the villa end May/early June 08 and the weather was brilliant. Ideally situated, backing on to the mountains and facing the sea.

We were 4 adults and this gave us more room than we needed - there would have been plenty of space for additional children. The house is well fitted out with all mod cons and everything was thoroughly spick and span. We were made very welcome by Jovo, the landlord's agent, who could not have been more helpful.

Plenty to see and do in the area and the pool was bliss after a hard day's sightseeing - and for simply relaxing in when the pace was slower.

One real advantage was the excellent restaurant in the village within easy walking distance - the proprietor is a real character who not only made us very welcome but sang and danced as well!.

A most enjoyable stay and I would thoroughly recommend this villa in every way.

We had a marvellous time. The villa is perfectly situated for sightseeing/beaches and the view/sunsets are to die for! The restaurant in the village is a must, the food is lovely, as is the ambience, and only a short walk. Philippa and Anthony have provided everything you could possibly need, right down to watershoes! There is nothing like sunbathing by your own pool, listening to radio 2's travel report.. quite surreal listening to the problems on the M25 while having a glass of wine overlooking Sveti Stefan! Wonderful villa, would definitely recommend it.
