The Owners
Alison and Glen are both retired school deputy-principals from Christchurch. They were also international students' directors. They have developed a plant nursery at Moetapu Bay that thrives in the idyllic microclimate of the Sounds. They visit regularly, looking after the large property, enjoying the view, the walks, fishing (mainly by net for flounder and snapper), sailing and just relaxing - in Paradise.
The House
The house has been totally renovated over the last five years with additional decks and bedrooms added, the interior rebuilt, the 'panorama' room added, a designer kitchen and a spa bath installed and generally made into wonderfully comfortable modern home in which to relax. A number of our guests have gathered their extended families together using Moetapu Bay as their base and then explore the wide variety of activities on offer close by.
More useful information
The house has all basic supplies and all linen and towels etc. supplied. Unfortunately, there is no maid service and our guests are asked to leave the house as they would wish to find it. You are welcome to bring your own boat; there is a slipway about 200 metres away and our deep water mooring about 100 metres out. Our 12 ft aluminium boat , with oars, life jackets and all fishing gear - set net and rods etc - are free for you to use. Upon confirmation of booking, we will send you our 'handy hints'. We may request that guests arrive after 2pm and depart before 1pm on the day they leave should there be a likely crossover on the same day.
Other Activities winery lunches, mail boat cruises, fishing charters, Queen Charlotte Walkway
