The two twin bedrooms share a bathroom room with a double spa bath. Linen and towels are provided. The kitchen is newly designed and the large lounge with an open log fire leads to a very big balcony with table and chairs which overlooks the beautiful bush garden with water features, native trees and shrubs, citrus fruit trees and of course the stunning view! A aluminium boat with oars, life jackets, nets and rods is included in the daily rate.

Further details for this holiday house rental in Marlborough, New Zealand

The Owners: Alison and Glen are both retired school deputy-principals from Christchurch. They were also international students' directors. They have developed a plant nursery at Moetapu Bay that thrives in the idyllic microclimate of the Sounds. They visit regularly, looking after the large property, enjoying the view, the walks, fishing (mainly by net for flounder and snapper), sailing and just relaxing - in Paradise.

The House: The house has been totally renovated over the last five years with additional decks and bedrooms added, the interior rebuilt, the 'panorama' room added, a designer kitchen and a spa bath installed and generally made into wonderfully comfortable modern home in which to relax. A number of our guests have gathered their extended families together using Moetapu Bay as their base and then explore the wide variety of activities on offer close by.

More useful information: The house has all basic supplies and all linen and towels etc. supplied. Unfortunately, there is no maid service and our guests are asked to leave the house as they would wish to find it. You are welcome to bring your own boat; there is a slipway about 200 metres away and our deep water mooring about 100 metres out.

Our 12 ft aluminium boat , with oars, life jackets and all fishing gear - set net and rods etc - are free for you to use. Upon confirmation of booking, we will send you our 'handy hints'. We may request that guests arrive after 2pm and depart before 1pm on the day they leave should there be a likely crossover on the same day.

Other Activities:

winery lunches, mail boat cruises, fishing charters, Queen Charlotte Walkway

perfect holiday

Review Submitted: June 18, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
We stayed at the Marlborough Sounds one week in December 08 and we really enjoyed it. The views, the vineyards, the weather and the apartement (spa bath, fireplace) itself were everything we wanted from a perfect holiday and that's what we got. Glen and Allison were great hosts! If you are looking for a relaxing holiday and a paradise - this is definitely the right place!

Owner's Response: Glen and Alison are delighted that our three recent reviews have been so positive. Our aim is for guests to get maximum enjoyment from our property , its superb views and its range of activities for young and old. We do like to offer a special New Zealand dining experience on the first night before we depart. So often overseas visitors do not get to socialise with their Kiwi hosts: it is enriching for both parties.
Come and experience the native bird calls in the morning , the beautiful sunrises from your bed , the clarity of thousands of stars in the night sky ....and every experience in between!

Truly Paradise

Review Submitted: September 26, 2010 Date of Stay: December 2009
Our holiday in this beautiful home was co-ordinated between us in the UK and my son and girlfriend travelling in South America. We arranged to meet in New Zealand and Glen was fantastic in making it all happen. The house is superb, and the hospitality second to none. We travelled down to Alison & Glen`s home in Christchurch and had a splendid lunch of whitebait - a surprise treat for my husband! - and of course Alison`s pavlova.
You will not be dissapointed if you stay here, it really is home from home. A relaxing peaceful paradise, but you certainly need a car, binoculars, camera and walking boots.
Thank you Alison & Glen for a wonderful Kiwi experience. We would love to come back !

Calm and peaceful

Review Submitted: June 9, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
We spent 2 weeks at this house in January 2009, and it was wonderful. Glen and Alison were there to met us, and prepare a delicious meal, NZ style, that we all enjoyed together ( Alison, your Pavlova was spectacular!). We stayed with our 4 children, and it was fun for everyone.

An Excellent Stay

Review Submitted: November 4, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
W stayed here in March 2008. Glen and Innes are very charming and generous hosts - they welcomed us and showed us the ropes, and then left us to enjoy their beautiful house on the Marlborough Sounds. The views from the house are spectacular, but the view from the main bedrooms really something special. There is excellent walking in the area, a lot to discover and we would thoroughly recommend it. There were only two of us, and we enjoyed the space, but it is a house meant for a family. We often think about our time there and particularly enjoyed walking part of the Queen Charlotte track. The gardens are a delight - as us the main deck area - a place for relaxing.

Owner's Response: We truly love meeting our international guests....it is so important to spend a little time with them . So very often they accept our invitation to greet them at the house , prepare a special NZ meal ,perhaps crayfish ,or rack of lamb ,then pavlova and fine local wines! A quick orientation of the area after a hearty breakfast...and then we are off to our usual home 5 hours away.

As ex geographers we enjoy offering suggestions for our guests' itinerary planning for this wonderful country.
