This well-equipped Scandinavian-style cabin, with large windows, a beautiful view and an open lay-out, is located in a small resort in the countryside just north of Risor in Southern Norway. The cabin has its own indoor swimming-pool, whirlpool and sauna, 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a raised sleeping area for children. On the large terrace facing southwest you can enjoy the views, the sun and the sunsets. The cabin is situated on top of a hill, where there are several similar cabins. There is parking for two cars right outside the cabin and easy access to hiking trails through the woods and to the seashore. The sea shore and a lake are within walking distance and an old-fashioned ferry will take you to the islands and the beaches or to the small town of Risør during summertime. Risør a lovely coastal town well-known for its architecture, its festivals and its art life.

Nearest Beach: beach at 500.0 Metres
The closest airport is Oslo Torp, to which Ryanair flies. It's very easy to find the way from here: Follow signs to E18 direction south towards Kristiansand. Follow E18 for about one hour, pass toll station (NOK 30) at Vegårdshei, then Brokelandsheia (with shopping, petrol station and cafés on your right). Exit from the E18 here, towards 'Søndeled'. Go on for a few kilometres until you have a lake on you left. Take first left after lake, across a bridge. It's signposted towards 'Jegertunet'. Then it's another 14 kilometres to go - a lovely scenic drive (beware of curves).

Additional information about rental rates

  • The cost of electricity is not included, as it varies a lot, mostly depending on the use of facilities, but also on the time of year. It can range between NOK 500 and NOK 1.500 per week. Bear in mind that in Norway, electricity is used for lighting, heating and cooking. There is always some firewood in the cabin for use in the Scandinavian fireplace (no charge for this). The cleaning after you stay is included.
  • Deposit 25% of rent to be paid for confirmed booking. 100% to be paid at the latest one month prior to moving in.

The resort offers numerous activities - tennis, rental of canoes and bicycles, clay pigeon shooting, hiking, fishing. Risor, one of Southern Norway's most beautiful towns, is only 20 minutes by ferry. The ferry leaves for Risør every hour during the peak of the summer (passing idyllic islands where you can get off on a beach), and twice daily the rest of the year.

Golf: The Arendal & Omegn Golfklubb at Nes Verk is rated as one of Norway's top courses. The club is located 30 minutes drive to the south. There is an 18 hole (par 72) and a (short) 9 hole course, driving range and putting green. There are nice trails around the area for non-golfers, as well as an iron works museum on site.

“We stayed at Jegertunet last week. The cabin was great - spacious, clean and comfortable with everything we needed for a restful vacation. I would be happy to be a reference if you ever need it.
The only qualifier is that the location is very remote - 10K to the nearest grocery store on a very narrow, winding road. We were looking for a quiet time so it worked for us but it may not suit everybody.”
