Villas do Mar consists of ten apartments with communal pool situated in quiet residential location on the headland near the village church and within 200m of the beach and centre of Carvoeiro. The property recently built and being rented for the first time in 2002, consists of a high quality 3 bed 2 bath Apartment. The Apartment is equipped with all amenities including modern kitchen, lounge, dining room, main bathroom and one shower room. This beautiful stylish and tastefully decorated duplex apartment is spaciously set out on two floors, separated by a spiral staircase. The lower floor consists of a lounge and dining room with sea view. Off this is a double bedroom, a single bedroom, the kitchen, a pantry and a bathroom.The upper floor consists of 2 single bedrooms and a shower room. The two single bedroom on this level share a large and very private sun terrace accessed by patio doors.

Carvoeiro: Is a delightful former fishing village, ideally situated for exploring the Algarve . The town accommodates most holiday needs with its tourist centre, bars, banks, pharmacy, moped, car and bicycle rental outlets and a variety of restaurants. The central square leads directly on to the beach backed by sandstone cliffs so typical of the Algarve. The coast road leads east and west from the square to a number of secluded coves.

What to do?: Boat trips can be taken from the beaches at Carvoeiro and Benagil to less accessible beaches, coves and caves along the coast. Horse riding, Snorkelling, Tennis and water sports are all available nearby. There are also two water parks ('Slide and Splash' and 'Big One') and ‘Zoomarine’, a marine theme park, all within a short drive. The tranquillity of the mountains, the pine forests of Monchique and the ancient Moorish walled town of Silves, the latter only 15 kilometres away, make pleasant inland excursions. Alternative, but equally enjoyable, excursions can be made to the old port of Portimao and to Lagos

Golf Information: The Algarve is a golfers paradise and Carvoeiro has more than its fair share of interesting courses. Vale de Milho, a picturesque but testing 9 hole par 3 course, is within short drive. Two 18 hole courses - Vale de Pinta and Gramacho - are close to Carvoeiro (5kms). Championship courses are available at Penina (25 minutes) and Quinta de Lago (30 minutes). Many other courses are within 30 to 40 minutes drive.

The apartment is very spacious and has everything you need for an excellent holiday. The living and dining room is comfortably furnished and has a lovely terrace with views out to the sea. The kitchen has absolutely everything you need if you want to cook and eat in.

In addition to the two bedrooms and the bathroom on the main fllor there is a second shower room and two bedrooms which are reached via a small spiral staircase. The larger of these bedrooms will open out on to the very large sun terrace. The sun terrace has a lovely sea view and is large enough for a table and chairs and two sun loungers and is great for both sun bathing and dining. The washing machine is also sited on the terrace and it was great to be able to occasionaly wash clothing whenever we needed to.

The apartment is in a quiet location but is no more than a five minute walk to both the beach in Carvoeiro and to where many of the restaurants and shops are located. It is a downhill walk to the beach but unfortunately a up hill walk back !

Virtually at the bottom of the road is the start of a lovely cliff top walk with great views along the way.

A car isn't necessary to get around Carvoeiro and there is a bus service to Portimao and plenty of trips available from the agents in town. There is also a land train which takes you on a tour around the town and on two days of the week does a trip to nearby Ferragudo which is good fun.

Finally I would add that Valentina was there to meet us and made us feel very welcome and on our final day allowed us to use the apartment until we left for the airport at 4.00pm.

This was our first visit to the Algarve for many years and we would have no hesitation in returning to both Carvoeiro and Vilas Do Mar.

The apartment is wonderful and spacious, very modern and has everything you need (even an ironing board) - it's like home from home with the sun. The view from the lounge balcony looks straight out to sea and a wider view is found from the large roof terrace. I would definitely recommend this apartment but would not think it over suitable for toddlers due to the spiral staircase between the 2 floors saying that it is excellent if you have teenagers as the upstairs bedroom and bathroom is like a studio on it's own.

The pool is not very large but big enough for a swim and cool off but again with no baby pool or shallow end not very suitable for very little children.

The location is great and within a five minutes you are down in the village or at the beach - not as quick to get back up!!! The location is at the top of the bay and there are several routes down to the village with loads of restaurants and bars to visit. The food is great and there is a wide choice of cuisine to choose from.

All in all a great apartment in a good location.
