Casa Rosita

My family and I stayed in this accommodation for 2 weeks in July. On arrival I was surprised that the "villa" was actually an end of terrace property with properties attached both to the side and underneath. This meant that with tiled floors the noise heard from the other properties was very intrusive at times especially at night. The villa is in a built up residential development called Bela Vista and at present there is a new villa being built next to the property which does cause some disturbance during the day. Also when we booked the holiday Casa Rosita was advertised as a property "suitable for the elderly or infirm" which I thought meant that made it suitable to take my 80 year old mother as it had a ground floor bedroom and bathroom. When we arrived the property actually has steps with no handrail out to the terrace from the villa and then another set of narrow steps down to the pool, this was a complete surprise as there was no mention of steps on the details when we made the booking. Since our complaint the owner immediately amended the property details to note that there are steps down to the pool which affect people with walking difficulties. The owner also amended the property details to say the property is now "NOT suitable for the eldery and infirm" which had we have known this before booking we would not even have considered the property. Also some items on the inventory were not present and there is only "comfy" seating for 5 people in the living room. There is no allocated parking at the property only on street and the view from the rear bedrooms looks out onto a builders store yard full of loft insulation. As this property is on a residential estate there are dogs everywhere in the streets which bark continuously even through the night, it is the only holiday I have been on where we had to buy earplugs. Also the burnt out car at the top of the hill is a nice touch too. The surrounding coastal areas are actually beautiful and I would recommend Carvoeiro. The beach at Praia de Rocha is lovely and well worth a visit. Apparently we are the only people ever to have made a complaint even though the villa was completely mis-represented in the original advert that I made my booking against. I hope noone else that goes there has the same problems. I certainly will not be returning to Casa Rosita even withouth my 80 year old mother.
Owner's Response: I am sorry that this Client complained about her stay at Casa Rosita. We have advertised Casa Rosita since August 2004 with no complaints regarding the description, area or inventory to Casa Rosita. In fact the review above this review states how much they enjoyed their stay a few weeks ago. We have also other clients staying before this all had positive feedback. The problem with the noise of the dogs cannot be helped and this issue I have passed to the necessary authority together with the burnt out car issue. The builders working on the new Villa have been contacted.
The client stayed at Casa Rosita for 15 nights and not once did they telephone in order for me to resolve this issue. We have a factfile in the villa with emergency numbers to call 24 hours a day. We also have a maintainence contractor on call to resolve any issues that are raised. Had the client contacted me as soon as they arrived, I would have resolved this immediately, on reply to this question the client said that they didnt see any point to contacting us.
The client also states that I changed the description to "not suitable for the eldery and infirm" when this complaint was made, I did this immediately so that I could inspect the Villa however I have now changed this back to be suitable and adequate for elderly and infirm. Previous clients include Grandparents both 83 years of age who I have contacted and asked their opinion both have said that Casa Rosita was suitable for their needs. When making a booking with difference age groups and special needs, an email or contact to any of the numbers advertised would have clarified their own special circumstances.The contact numbers should be used in all cases to ask for any further questions that you may have, this was not the case in this instance.
Once again I am sorry that these clients have complained regarding the issues above, however I would have liked to have the opportunity of resolving these issues when she arrived.
