Casa Escondida is a perfect home from home for both summer and winter holidays. The house sleeps four people in one double and one twin bedroom and there is a cot and high chair available for a toddler. There are various places to relax including the covered terrace overlooking the pool with its sofa and two armchairs and a shadier terrace behind the house for the hottest summer months where there are two sofas, a table and chairs and a gas barbecue. By the pool is a tiled dining table and chairs and four sun loungers. The large pool is sanitised using a saltwater system (no sore eyes and green hair from excessive use of chlorine) and for extra exercise there is a full size badminton court which can be used for paddle tennis and other games(badminton sets provided) Phone and e mail facilities are available at owners house close by. When you arrive a generous complimentary welcome pack will get you started until you have time to get to the shops.For a brochure please contact the owner

The house stands in olive and almond orchards within walking distance of the charming village of Estoi with views to the distant sea and islands. Estoi has a number of attractions including the Palace of the Condes de Estoi and the Roman ruins of Milreu. There are some very good restaurants or 'tascas´ serving simple Portuguese food at very reasonable prices. There is a local supermarket and a very helpful chemists whose pharmacist speaks excellent English. The beaches and golf courses are half an hour away and Lisbon or Seville can be reached in two hours. A quiet location but within easy reach of Algarve's many attractions. A car is essential and the owner can arrange this on your behalf if you wish

Additional information about rental rates

  • A deposit of twenty percent of the total price is required on booking and the balance of the total amount is required six weeks before arrival.For last minute bookings the full amount is payable on confirmation. The changeover day,(guests arriving and departing) is Thursday.
  • From January 1st 2010 until March 18th 2010 rates are £300 per week but, unlike most holiday properties this price includes all services (gas, water and electricity) and logs for the wood burning stove.
    There are heaters in the bathrooms, extra background heating in the living room and duvets and electric blankets for the beds.
    For longer lets (one month or more) the rate is £1000 per month
  • Weekly rates for 30th September until 30th December 2010 are £300 but, as quoted above, include all services

Notes: A generous complimentary welcome pack will await your arrival, and the house has a good selection of books and video tapes. In the winter there are electric blankets for the beds and a wood-burning stove for which logs are supplied. Maid service is on Monday,and Thursday for three hours each day. Market research has encouraged us to change from a daily maid service to two days per week as guests apparently prefer to maximise their privacy. However, if guests prefer a daily maid service it can be provided at no extra cost. Telephone and e-mail facilities are available at the owners house which is conveniently nearby but entirely separate from Casa Escondida. Bedrooms and lounge are equipped with ceiling fans. There is a full size badminton court in the garden. The Casa Escondida Book which you will find in the house,gives details and instructions on daytrips and how to get around central Algarve

12th July-26th July 2007. Had a lovely holiday. Villa superb....website doesn't do it justice. John always on hand but never intrusive...could not have been more hospitable or helpful. Accommodation and pool spotless. Two weeks not enough...we'll just need to come back !! The Thomsons, South Queensbury, Scotland. 5July 2007. We have been here for three weeks. What a smashing house and garden. Had a wonderful time and will definitely be back !! Gus and Sue Petrie, Dundee Scotland, Loved the villa. It was lovely to be greeted with such a warm welcome even though we arrived late at night!! John and Anna Brookfield 21st-27th October 2005. A lovely holiday..very relaxing. The description of Casa Escondida on the web does not do justice to the reality. A very warm welcome awaits you at Casa Escondida......everything you need....just bring yourself !! We have just had a most wonderful relaxing holiday at Casa Escondida, John and Rogelia looked after everything really well. We were made to feel very welcome, a lovely clean bright villa in a lovely area, it was a fantastic way to spend our Ruby wedding anniversary. Great for people of all ages we shall be returning without doubt.

We would like to let you know how much we enjoyed our 4 week stay, mid February to mid March 2009. After 12 years of booking self catering from New Zealand through the Caribbean and Europe we can honestly say we have never stayed anywhere as beautiful and tranquil as your Casa. Your attention to detail was superb, requests for assistance were attended to within minutes of contact. The villa is stupendous and we now miss the quiet evenings by the fireside. The proximity of the villa to both the beauty of the Algarve beaches and the wonderful hill country enabled us to see both the modern and the old Algarve. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to visit your Casa and learn a little more of life in such a setting. We will return.

This was really a quiet and nice place. The swimming pool with acsess from both bedrooms was just super. The owner provided very good service and he was always there if needed. I would very much recommend this property, specially for people who want a quiet place.

Just returned from Casa Escondida where four of us had a wonderful, relaxed holiday. The villa is very comfortable and has lovely views over the countryside to the sea. John was always on hand to help with queries and made us all feel very welcome. We will definitely return.
