Car hire is essential to appreciate this lovely area. The property is conveniently situated, being only a 20 minute drive from Faro airport and about a 5 minute drive from the old village of Estoi, famous for its Roman ruins and its XVIII century Palacio. The nearest shop is less than 1km. Loule and Olhao, with their fine Saturday markets are nearby. Tennis, beach and golf at Vale do Lobo or Quinta do Lago is about a 20 minute drive. Nestling in the heart of the countryside, Casa do Rosmaninho is secluded but not remote. With its own private 2m unidepth swimming pool and peaceful grounds, it is an ideal place to relax and discover life in the real Algarve. LOCAL RESORTS: A 35 minute drive brings you to the exclusive resorts of 'Vale do Lobo' and 'Quinta do Lago' both offering the best golf courses, great tennis facilities and magnificent beaches. 'Quinta do Lago' boast a total of 4 of the best 18-hole courses in Portugal (Quinta do Lago; Ria Formosa; San Lorenzo; Pinheiros Altos) while nearby 'Vale do Lobo' offers its 2 equally famous magnificent 18-hole courses (Ocean and Royal). People will often say that the 'Royal' and the 'Ocean' courses at Vale do Lobo are the most scenic golf courses in Portugal. The Vale do Lobo Tennis Academy, first established in 1980, has now grown into one of the finest centres in Europe, with first class facilities and coaching programmes, tailored to suit all ages and level of players. Still around the resorts ... The 'Ria Formosa Park', a protected area, is recognized of World importance by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. It was established as a nature reserve in 1978 and designated a natural park in 1987. The 'Ria' is rich in wildlife and is home to many rare as well as some endangered species of migrating and nesting birds. Being therefore the perfect place for serious ornithologists or those who want to enjoy the fascinating array of many birds in their natural habitat, 2 nature trails have been created through the heartland to the resort of 'Quinta do Lago'. These nature trails allow small groups of visitors to explore the park on set paths which feature a bird observatory (where the S. Lorenzo course joins the Ria Formosa) and information posts highlighting the flora and fauna of the area. Not to be missed.
