Albardeira, Lagos

Date of Stay: July 2008
We (family of 4 ages 42, 40, 14 & 9) stayed in this apartment 2nd week of July 2008. We found the apartment to be exellent in every aspect. It is spacious, clean, well maintained and has everything you need in a holiday apartment. The views from the terrace off the lounge are amazing over to the town of Lagos and down to Meia Praia beach. There is a 2nd smaller terrace off the kitchen which is handy for drying washing. The Bathrooms and Lounge/Dining Room (with direct access to the kitchen) are very nice. Bedrooms are spacious with plenty storage and decent beds. I would highly recommend the apartment for families and couples looking for a quiet location with easy access to the town (20 mins walk) and marina (10 mins walk). There is a small supermarket about 100 metres from the apt with a larger one about 10 mins walk. If you want to take a taxi back from town at night they are plentiful and cheap at about 4 euros a trip.
The pool area is clean and well maintained. The pool is shallow and child friendly but big enough for getting a decent swim in. 4 sunbeds are provided for your personal use which is nice. No parasols but Lagos is quite breezy so probably more hassle that they are worth. Even in July we found the pool area quiet and most times we had it to ourselves.
In Lagos itself there are countless good quality restauarants where you can find just about anything you want. Highlights were Maharajah Indian just off the square, Piri-Piri also just off the square. If you venture out of the centre there are some places with cheap but good local food like O Imperio do Mar.
We took the local EVA bus to Sagres one day which is very scenic and has a lovely beach, cost 20 Euros for 4 return tickets. The views up by the old fort along the coastline are amazing.
A boat trip to the Grottos is worth doing. We done this in 2007 on a previus visit to Lagos. The small boats are much cheaper with entertaining skipper / tour guide. If I remember correctly it was about 20 euros for 4.
Last word to host Jeff who answered all our pre-holiday email queries very promptly and provided all the information we required. He met us on arrival as planned and came to collect keys and return our security deposit as promised on the morning we left. He is happy to help with anything while you are there and was flexible with the entry / exit times we wanted. We would definitely return to this apartment and highly recommend Lagos.
