A Grand Time Was Had By All!

Extremely well-appointed flat within a new complex. Shared roof-top pool for residents - not busy at all - windy days were not uncommon and the rooftop was pretty windy. Gated complex with allotted secure parking. Good proximity to Lagos (car essential) access to town via marina bridge. Good access to beach (5-minute walk - really). Very popular with locals - always a good sign. Watch out for the mosquitos at the beach restaurant - we all four of us got bitten pretty severely on the fist evening - spent the rest of the fortnight applying pharmacy products.
Loads of choice of places to dine out away from the beach. The Dom Pedro hotel next door has a lovely little restaurant attached (Atlantico). The Palmares golf course is only a 10-minute drive and has a lovely atmoshere for a family meal. The best retaurant by far was the O' Celerio located west of Lagos (approx. 30 minute drive). Brilliant atmoshere - we were there 10 years ago and it was every bit as good as our first visit. Good choice of seafood or meat dishes and lots of wine choices.
Great family holiday (just remember to put on the mossie repellant) - can do either pool or beach and shopping is all too possible due to location. Supermarket Pingo Doce is a 5-minute drive. There is another supermarket (Intermarche)which is thro' Lagos - has more choice but the Pingo was really all we needed.
For daytrips in the car there is Silves in the Monchique mountain range or the fort at Cap St. Vincente. The railway from Lagos does run pretty regularly to Portimao - for more shopping!
Loved it, we'll be back.
