Praia da Luz is a small village in typical Portuguese style with whitewashed buildings and cobbled streets. There are great restaurants and bars with stunning views, good shops, and a superb beach (with a range of watersports available) -all within 5 minutes walk from the apartment. Only 5km away is the historical town of Lagos with its bustling marina - ideal for boat trips or surfing excursions. Lagos also boasts an excellent range of quality restaurants, cafes and bars (and clubs for a lively night out). There are great shops, a weekly market,and numerous stunning beaches - all to be enjoyed. The area offers some of the finest and least crowded beaches in the Algarve, including Sagres (for surfing) together with water parks,the mountain spa of Monchique and Cape Vincent, shopping centres, cinemas, zoos, great golf courses, and of course Lisbon only 3 hours away.

Notes to the rental rates

  • Payment
    We can accept payment in sterling or euros. The rates include all bed linen and bathroom towels and mats and kitchen tea towels. There is a non refundable deposit to pay of £100 per week to secure the booking, and the balance is due 8 weeks prior to your stay, together with a damage waiver of £100 (which will be banked) and which is refundable on your return (once the apartment has been checked).
  • Arrivals and Departures
    The changeover day is flexible. The apartment will be available for check in after 2pm on the day of arrival and needs to be vacated by 10am on the day of departure. Any other arrangements will be subject to prior arrangement.
  • Local Management Agency
    A local management agency (British) is available to meet and greet you, and to help with queries or any problems that may arise. They can also arrange an extra cot and highchair, or welcome food pack for a small extra fee. They can also advise on trips and book excursions as requested.

Please note that there is a lift to the apartment as well as a flight of stairs therefore the apartment is ideal for the less mobile. There is plenty of designated parking available around St James for guests. Guests also have use of the pool area with free sun loungers provided. Sky television is available in the apartment(free channels only). Oil filled radiators are situated throughout the apartment for guests' extra comfort. in the winter months. Water- Related Activities

Lots of water- related sports and activities are available locally including: water skiing, jet skiing, sailing and all types of surfing. Luz is an excellent place to learn to dive, with a choice of local dive schools which train to the internationally recognised PADI certificate standard. Big Game is available in Florida style game fishing boats, and there are many boat trips along the coastline. Surfers will note that the apartment is only a short drive from the excellent surfing beaches on the Algarve's west coast.

Golf Information

The Algarve is a golfers' paradise with all year round availability and mild winters. There are 24 golf courses across the Algarve and 5 within 20 minutes drive from the apartment. The nearest Boa Vista is 2 km away, par 71, handicap card required, views of the Atlantic and Monchique mountains. Palmeres- 15 minute drive away, par 71, gentle slopes above the beach, Parque de Floresta 15 minuts drive away, par 72, rolling hill terrain and Penina (designed by Henry Cotton),par 73, handicap card required -20 minutes drive away.

Getting Around

Praia da Luz is approximately 50 minutes drive down the A22 motorway from Faro Airport. If you plan do do lots of sightseeing and/or golfing we recommend a hire car. There are many car hire firms available at the airport and can be booked in advance from England. Alternatively you can book a taxi for about £50 each way. Once in Luz a car is not necessary as everything is within walking distance. The local bus stop for a service up and down the coast and into Lagos is situated 2-3 minutes walk away, next to the taxi rank. A taxi into Lagos for an evening is approximately £7.
