Privately owned and very secure apartment with large all round garden with fruit trees and fabulous views to the ocean and the famous black rock. All windows and patio doors have retractable security grills fitted. It is centrally located in the village with a well stocked supermarket only 2 minutes walk away and the wonderful sandy beach is only a 5 minute stroll away. There is off-road private parking spaces to the rear and the main door is reached through a lockable gated entrance. Linen, towels and utilities are all included. All pubs, shops restaurants are within easy reach and a car is not required. A regular bus service is available if you want to explore further than Praia Da Luz.

The apartment is centrally located in the fishing village of Praia Da Luz which means 'beach of light' and is a few kilometers west of the historic town of Lagos. Further west are several old, easily accessible fishing villages until you come to Sagres and cape St. Vincent which is the the furthest point of land in western Europe. Almost all the pubs and restaurants stay open all year and provide wonderful drinks and meals to suit all tastes both Portuguese and European and are just a few minutes walk away. This is an ideal location for winter breaks as well as summer holidays.

  • Payment is also accepted in Euros. Deposit of 20% required to confirm booking. Balance due 8 weeks prior to arrival. The apartment will be available from 3pm on day of arrival and should be vacated by 11 am on day of departure. We will always try and accommodate any variations on these times. The apartment is managed by an English couple living in nearby Lagos who will meet you with the keys and show you around the apartment. They can also pick you up at the airport for 70 Euros and they are contactable during your stay.

    Utilities will be charged on units used from December to March at current rates.

You can go Dolphin watching or big game fishing or book a sightseeing cruises are go on a boat trip to the nearby grottos & sea caves, you are also only a short drive to the surfing beaches of the west coast. Luz is an excellent place to learn to dive with its PADI certificate diving school and is on the edge on of the regions largest Nature reserves Costa Vicentin. For those who love the countryside Horse Riding is nearby. Locally there is tennis courts, water skiing, jet skiing, banana rides, paragliding and windsurfing. There are restaurants to suit all tastes including Beach and Local restaurants English, Pizza, Chinese and Indian there is also cafe snack bars and more up market restaurants such as Forteleza & Dolphin South African Restaurants.

Home from Home

We had a splendid two weeks break in ' Luz ' a charming coastal village that we have been to on a number of times in the past 20 years. We went with our daughter and her boyfriend and were delighted with the spacious accommodation and great location of this ground floor flat.

Everything needed was there for our use. The owners obviously consider this their home and have thought of all the little things needed to make our stay trouble free and easy going. Unlike like some of the apartments that we have rented over the years. There was even a good selection of English novels and some classic DVDs to while away the 'stay in ' nights.

The property was clean and well maintained and had a great view from the rear balcony onto the sea. There is a large patio at the rear for sun worshippers.

We did not stay in very often however as we a few minutes walk away from one of the most beautiful strips of coast in the Algarve. The village itself has an abundance of good Restaurants and Bars but, thankfully, is not as busy as most of the Tourist Praias on the coast. the location however we found perfect for days out to the surrounding attractions and only a 45 minute drive to Faro airport.

We thoroughly enjoyed our break and in the conversations we had with the owner and his wife they went out of their way to be friendly and helpful.

I would recommend this accommodation without any hesitancy and the proof is that we are returning to this apartment in the Autumn.

Lovely apartment, lovely place, lovely holiday!

Our 3rd time in Portugal but 1st in Praia da Luz, we usually book package holidays with flights and hotels pre-arranged.
This year we decided to do our own thing in the hope that cheap flights and a choice of accommodation would offer better value and a different experience, We're so glad we did!
The Appartment 'Casa Maria' was really great, spacious, comfortable, in a great location and really well looked after, we couldn't of asked for any more.
We are already thinking about going back out to Portugal in the near future.
One of the most relaxing breaks we have had, in great surroundings, with everything you'd hope for in a self catering apartment.

A wonderful holiday

We believe we found the perfect home away from home. We had a wonderful 3 weeks in Luz, a village which was just right for us. Ian was very helpful with information relating to questions about booking the apartment. We rented a car at Faro airport and drove to Luz in about 1 hour. Wonderful scenery along the motorway. On arrival we were met by Valerie and Trevor with the keys and they answered all our questions. A very nice and helpful couple. The apartment was everything we could wish for, very spacious and clean. From the terrace we had a wonderful view of the ocean and the black rock. There is a peach tree in the back yard and the peaches ripened during our stay and we could help ourselves. Very yummy. A supermarket with a bakery and a coffee shop was only a 2 minute walk away and to the beach a 6 minute walk. There is a wonderful promenade along the ocean with numerous restaurants. Our favorites were The Galley and A Concha. Both have terraces with a view of the ocean and the food is very good. A 8 minute drive to the east is the larger city of Lagos which we visited many times during our stay. Be sure to take one of their boat tours while you are there. We believe this is a must when in this area. Only 10 Euro’s per person for a 1 hour tour. Also renting a car isn’t really necessary in Luz as everything is available by foot and there is also a good bus service between the towns. We would definitely recommend this accommodation and we would love to return in the future.

So good I've done it twice (Apr & Sept 2010)!!! Like home from home & perfectly positioned for all amenities. Added bonus of garden, as well as balcony & terrace. Wonderful sea-view, no noise. Peace perfect peace.

Fantastic Holiday

We have just returned from two weeks at this apartment in a prime spot within the resort of Praia Da Luz. The resort itself is fantastic, with everything you need within a walking distance and the apartment certainly matched it. All mod' cons' available to us - home from home, spacious and very clean.

Dealing with Ian before the holiday was excellent and he was most informative about any questions put to him.

The nearby beach was spectacular. I have visited Luz several times before I got married and have always loved the resort and on returning with my family, husband and two children, they have now also fallen in love with the place as much as I have - hope to go back next year to the same resort and the same apartment.
