Boavista Golf Resort is one of the Algarve's most picturesque and exciting new courses. Having taken 2 years to construct, the course opened in January 2002. It is now firmly established as an Algarvian favourite and offers unforgettable golf in a spectacular setting. Rapidly growing in reputation, the impressive 18-hole championship course was designed by Howard Swan MSc, past president of The European Institute of Golf Course Architects, who has over 30 years' experience. In its inaugural year the course was chosen by Sir Henry Cooper and Mike Reid as part of their annual Charity Golf Classic and has since become a regular venue for the event. The course is well-contoured, with idyllic scenery of lakes and water features, and offers wonderful views across both Lagos Bay and the beautiful Monchique Mountains. Now an enjoyable challenge to golfers of all abilities, the course provides a variety of attractive and interesting holes, from the opening tee shot with majestic views over Lagos Bay to the last putt on the 18th green. A number of holes are already classics - eg, the exciting 6th par 3 requires a tee shot over a natural ravine, while lake holes 14, 15 and 17 provide an interesting array of water features. Both novice and experienced golfers can take advantage of the driving range and excellent practice areas with resident professional and junior club programme. The entire course provides a superb golf experience.
