Apartment in Praia da Luz

We stayed here for a week in early September with two teenage daughters. This is, as it says in the description, a spacious apartment with wonderful sea views. It is extremely comfortable and clean and has everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. It is very light and airy, the rooms are large and it occupies one of the best locations in the resort being a short walk into town and close to one of the Ocean club pools and then there are those views.
The facilities at the Ocean Club are excellent although I would avoid the on-site restaurants as they are a bit pricey and rather soul-less in my opinion. I would certainly recommend both the property, which I thought was very good value, and this resort (which we have visited before) to a friend.
In Praia da Luz itself we ate at Chaplins, which, although it seems to be the "English" option has varied and interesting food. Also the restaurant on the beach, the name of which I can never remember offered a good menu and good food in a great location though eating out, probably due to the exchange rate, seemed rather expensive. Habana bar on the corner is a good option for breakfast or lunch in a good location.
A trip into Lagos is well worthwhile in the evening and we had an excellent meal at a restaurant on the cliff top overlooking the river. For a change from Praia da Luz beach go into Salema to the West which is a nice peaceful resort, likened to a Cornish fishing village, or to Cabanas da Velhas beach which is on an un made road just past Burgau. There is a beach restaurant here - blue wave - which offers a nice option for lunch.
On the way down to town from the apartment be sure to stop at Jasmim, a locals cafe, for excellent coffee and cake, internet access and the friendliest, most genuine people you will meet in the resort.
A drive up into the mountains to Monchique is worthwhile, stop at Caldas de Monchique, an interesting little village, for a fish lunch before going up to Foia the highest point in the Algarve for great views.
