The Hugo cafe offers coffee and light snacks all day, The great variety of restaurants available in Luz are only a few minutes walk. There is a free shuttle bus to Lagos several times each day, this bus also offers transport to the sister resorts in the region which you are also welcome to enjoy.
Beaches:
The local beach in Pria da Luz, a very safe and sandy beach with beach bar cafes over looked by the the famous black cliff and is only a 5 minute stroll from the apartment. In addition there are several other beaches a short 5 - 10 minute drive from Luz. Meia Pria which runs in front of Lagos which boasts an amazing 4 kilometer stretch of white sand, There is a wind surfing centre on the beach as well as many restaurants; Dona Anna, Porto de Mos, Camillo, Salema, and Burgau are all more favorites. These are family friendly with excellent facilities. A little further one can visit the west cost with its wild and beautiful beaches. The enormous waves on these beaches make them extremely popular with surfers.
Day Trips:
Take a drive into the stunning green mountains of Monchique. The drive enjoys a stunning vista of sea and mountains bringing you to Foia at 900 meters is the highest point in the Algarve. Visit Caldas de Monchique, the hot springs for which Monchique is famous. Try some chicken piri-piri for lunch washed down by some delicious Vino Verde. Head out of Lagos on the N125 towards Sagres taking a detour via Ponte de Piedade, a high rock formation hollowed out by the seas below. From there continue to Sagres and Cape Vincent the most westerly point in Europe with its fortress and superb views of the west coast. The Bravura is a man made lake, a beautiful and peaceful spot where you can relax and enjoy nature. It is certainly worth a drive to Vilo de Bispo and Aljiezur to visit the wild and beautiful beaches at Castelejo, Cordams, Odeceixe, Amonoriera Borderia and Amado. Golf:
5min from Luz is the Howard Swan designed Boavista Golf Course. This is an 18 hole par 71 championship golf course situated overlooking the Atlantic and Lagos town. Its combination of design, location and the sheer variety of holes make this a great golf experience. Boavista also has he benefit of a driving range and a teaching academy. 15 minutes form Luz is the scenic and serene Palmaris course, an 18 hole par 72 that perfectly come in beach and mountain scenery. This is reflected by its links outward 9 and a hillier parkland back 9. Palmaris boasts what is generally agreed as being the most striking 1st hole in the Algarve. 20 minute drive from Luz is The legendary Penina course. This is the master work of legendary Henry Ccotton and is the first golf course to grace the algarve. This championship course has been 5 times host to the Portuguse open, a par 73, it requires length and acuaracy to score well. Also a 20 minute drive is the new course of Mogado. This is a stunning par 72 with imaginative and challenging holes bring out the best in your golf. Another 20 minute drive will bring you to the superb Parque de Floresta golf resort. An 18 hole par 72 is laid out through hills and valleys which are blanketed by flowers in spring. It provides a good and attractive challenge with lakes and rivers to negotiate and with spectacular views of the Atlantic to the south side.
