Praia da Luz / Luz holiday apartment

Our stay was in January, which started cold, so we were grateful for the indoor pool and gym at the complex, as well as an effective heating system. The apartment was much more spacious than we expected, well-appointed and very clean. The one minor equipment malfunction was dealt with rapidly and without fuss, consistent with a very friendly and helpful service throughout. We would recommend it, and might well go back at some time.
We are a couple of over-55's and liked the countryside and beaches a lot. You don't have to have a car, there's plenty of eateries in walking distance,but we were glad that we did as there are many places in the area worth the visit - Monchique, Sagres among them - and we were able to rent a car for not much more than the cost of two airport taxi trips.
Downsides? Wouldn't recommend for teenagers or those seeking "nightlife". Luz is probably a more expensive town than some along that coast - it has a generally up-market vibe. Small children would probably love the beach, but it's a longish walk for littl'uns, especially coming back up the hill, and the tick against "disabled" would depend on just what challenges you might be dealing with. It relates more to the apartment than the area. We wouldn't view Luz or Lagos as a shopper's paradise (for us that's a recommendation) and with Euro = Pound nothing is a bargain any more, of course.
All in all we had a very enjoyable stay. I hope it works as well for others.
