Excellent Holiday Appartment

We stayed at the Estrela complex late July, early August 2008. We found the complex an excellent centre for our family, comprising 3 teenagers, 18, 16 and 14. The complex has three pools, one for mainly younger families, one for adults and in the unlikely event of poor weather an indoor pool. All the grounds are kept in beautiful condition and all the pool areas are cleaned daily. The gymnasium is fully equipped with a good selection of exercise machines and free weights, the whole family used it! There is a poolside restaurent open over the weekend, a poolside bar with food available throughout the day (excellent salads!) and a restaurent/bar (full selection of cocktails!!) open daily in the reception area, the staff were always very friendly. There is also wifi in the bar area and a couple of computers for use - the kids used these for keeping in touch with home!
All the arrangements with the owner went very well, there was a welcome pack at reception and food in the fridge - a very nice touch and greatly appreciated!
The appartment itself is very big, three good size bedrooms, a very large lounge and an excellent kitchen with all the appliances and equipment that you could wish for. We felt very much a home, the kids made full use of SKY TV. Bath towels are provided and changed after the first week along with bed linen and a full clean. The complex is very secure with key coded gates giving access to the appartment areas and an underground carpark. Overall the appartment and complex exceeded all our expectations and provided and excellent base for our holiday.
We flew into Lisbon (cheaper than Faro) and drove down the toll road linking the North with the Algarve (€18), the drive took about 3 hours and was very easy driving. The complex is within a 5 minute walk of the centre of Luz and a little further to the main sandy beach. Luz has enough bars and restaurents to keep most families amused, it is not really a centre for a lot of nightlife, which did not bother us. We visited Lagos (about a 10 minute drive) which is a bigger town with a lot more bars and restaurents.
We would thoroughly recommend this appartment to families with children of all ages. We had a brilliant holiday and would definitely return.
