Golf Information 1:
Foz da Ria is close to some magnificent golf courses. Palmares golf course is within a stones throw of the property and comprises of 18 holes, par 71, and length of 5,961 metres. It is best known for its breathtaking scenery. The setting is idyllic with the majority of the holes on gentle slopes above the extensive beach stretching from the Lagos Marina to the mouth of the Alvor River.
Palmares course architect Frank Pennink, took full advantage of the magnificent site. A sequence of five pure links holes evoke memories of famous British layouts, whilst the upper holes wind through groves of almond and fig trees making the course renowned for its annual Almond Blossom tournament in February.
Penina is the Championship course designed by Sir Henry Cotton, situated within a few kilometers of Foz da Ria at Portimão. This course is considered a masterpiece and was the first grass golf course in the Algarve.
Golf Information 2:
Boavista Golf Course is set overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Lagos and the Monchique Hills. Designer Howard Swan has successfully integrated his layout into the existing natural terrain using the very features that make Boavista a delight to the eye. In addition to the 18-hole golf course and driving range there is a teaching academy.
Alto Golf is situated at Alvor and was the last 18-hole course designed by Sir Henry Cotton with construction starting shortly before his death in Dec 1987 and opened in 1991 by the President of Portugal.
And if all this is not enough a short distance along the coast is Carvoeiro Golf, Pinta and Gramacho Courses both at Praia do Carvoeiro.
