The villa is situated in Almaverde Village, a new development of luxury villas close to the sea 6 miles west of Lagos on the Algarve. The villa incorporates many innovative low-energy design and build features. Almaverde Village recently won 5 awards in the Homes Overseas Magazine Awards 2007, including Best House Portugal, Best Sustainable Development, Best innovation and Best Landscape Design. The 4 bedroom air conditioned villa features a private heated salt water swimming pool with terrace, a private garden on a plot of 1000 square metres and a roof terrace with far-reaching views to the sea and mountains. The accommodation is all on one level except the roof terrace and is therefore suitable for the elderly or infirm. This is the ideal location for a self-catering summer holiday with a safe and sheltered beach only 2 miles away in the fishing village of Burgau. The lively regional centre Lagos is 6 miles away where you will find shops, restaurants, cinema, bars and night-life.

The villa is located approximately 6 miles west of Lagos in Almaverde village in a quiet rural location on the border of a National Park and is surrounded by open country. The nearest beach is only 2 miles away in the charming fishing village of Burgau where you will find local shops, bars and restaurants. Lagos is the major town in the area and has all major facilities including shops and markets and a wealth of restaurants. The nightlife is vibrant with many bars and clubs open until the small hours. Lagos also features the magnificent Meia Praia beach with 3 miles of golden beach. The villa is approximately 12 miles from the stunning beaches of the western Algarve coast, famous for its rugged coastline and surfing potential. The spa town of Monchique in the mountains is approx 45 minutes drive away and there are many sites of historic interest in the area. For children there are plenty of family attractions too, including Zoo Marine, Krazy World and Aqualand.

Surfing: The surfing potential in the area is epic, with west-facing world-class breaks like Carrapeteira within 30 minutes of the property and for those big winter swells the southern beaches lie just 10 minutes away. The uncrowded line-ups add to the magic of the Portuguese surfing experience. A surf board and 2 body boards are available at the villa for your use.

On-site facilities: On site at Almaverde is the Wellness Centre which offers a range of beauty treatments and therapies including manicures, Tai Chi, Yoga and massage. Refreshments are available at the juice and sandwich bar. There are floodlit tennis courts on site and a children's play area. Tennis rackets are available at the villa for your use. Bookings for the Wellness Centre and tennis courts may be made through the on-site management team at Almaverde.

Other Activities: The property is ideally situated for many other activities available in the area including walking, bird-watching, horse-riding etc. If you tire of the beach or lazing round the private pool, head for Monchique, a charming spa town in the mountains approximately 45 minutes drive away. The new marina 6 miles away at Lagos is a major centre for all sailing and boating activities. Boat charter is available at competitive rates and there are many boat trips for diving, fishing, dolphin-watching and general sightseeing along this stunning coastline. Or visit one of the many sites of historic interest in the area from the tiny Chapel of Our Lady of Guadeloupe to the magnificent fortress built by Henry the Navigator at Sagres. Further afield, the historic cities of Lisbon and Seville in Spain are both about 3 hours drive from the villa. There are lots of attractions for children such as Zoo Marine, Aqua Park and Krazy World. A comprehensive guide to the area is available at the villa.

Golf: The property is close to excellent golf facilities. Parque da Floresta, 10 minutes drive from the villa, is one of Europe's most spectacular golf courses set in hillside terrain. It features a golf academy, driving range and short game area with practice bunkers. Boavista golf resort is also 10 minutes drive and has a golf academy and boasts panoramic views of the Atlantic in one direction and the hills of Monchique in the other. Further first class golf courses are located throughout the Algarve region and are easily accessible via the A22 motorway.

We've been there for two years already and we realy enjoyed our holidays. The house is spacious, clean and very private.
The owner is a very pleasent person and provided a perfect costumer service.
It would be nice to have a biger BBQ.

very enjoyable stay at almaverde.the welcome pack was a nice surprise as we didnt arrive until late afternoon after having to be at the airport at 0600 that day.nice spacious rooms and the pool was lovely,especially being able to go for a night swim as it had lighting.
