Lake Bravura (Barragem):
This beautiful large man made lake is in the heart of the Algarve's loveliest wooded hills and rolling countryside near to Lagos. It provides the perfect setting for peaceful walking, canoeing, horse-riding, bird-watching, fishing and nature lovers alike. It is a great place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of busy beaches and resorts. And for those feeling slightly more energetic there are excellent dirt tracks ideal for mountain biking and running, or even a spot of windsurfing on the beautiful crystal clear lake water! Quite simply, you can do as much or as little as you desire.
Algarve's Beaches:
The Algarve is renowned for its ample choice of beautiful clean sandy beaches. Locally, you can choose from Alvor, Meia Praia, Lagos, and Praia da Rocha, Portimao. They are all approximately 25 minutes drive away. Further west, there are 'private' secluded beaches and coves between Burgau across to Sagres. On the west coast there are many beautiful beaches ideal for surfing with long lines of rollers sweeping in from the open Atlantic. You will be spoilt for choice!
Local Golf:
There are 5 golf courses in the area. The most well known, Penina, was designed by Henry Cotton and has hosted some of the world's greatest golf tournaments. Penina is approximately 20 minutes drive away from Casa Do Lago. Palmares Golf Course overlooks some of the loveliest stretch of sandy beaches at Meia Praia. The course at Parque da Floresta is a more recent addition and Boa Vista is the newest designed as a championship course. Alto Golf in Portimao is also easily accessed. All the above golf courses are approximately 20-30 minutes drive away.
